When you married, Did you change your name and if so, how?

I got several copies of my marriage certificate and went everywhere in person - to the Social Security office, my bank, etc. That was enough proof for the name change. The only thing I didn't do was my passport.

We just filed Claudeth's AOS with her married name. Getting her Filipino passport renewed was an interesting activity We also had to wait to get something official from the USCIS to change her name on the SSN so was able to do that when the EAD arrived.

I started at the SSA office, took my marriage certificate and I got the new card in 2 weeks.

Then I went to the DMV and can't change it until my husband has his SS # since they don't accept foreign marriage certificates. So that's still pending.

Currently I'm calling my utilitiy companies, bank, credit card companies and any others I can think of to see what they need. Some change my info right over the phone while others, like my bank, just want a written statement with a copy of the marriage certificate to have it changed.

It's a lot of work!

Only 2 things that don't have my married name: green card (which yup, has NOT arrived) and bank account. Everything else: SSN, Washington ID, lease, is under married name. I wonder how the heck one goes about changing to married name in green card..... wisdom, anyone?

I got married a week after I moved to the US and applied for everything in my married name immediately thereafter. Therefore, I don't have to worry about changing my name.

#######?!?!? It has a $370 filing fee.... woohoo.... guess not happening. Will change when I remove conditions or later. Thanks for the info anyways!!!

p.s. Just double-checked the instructions of the form and I cannot even try before removing conditions, so I guess that's that

Me and Marivic were married in Manila in March and she has changed everything there to my last name including her passport and postal ID so it will be no problem here since visa was filed for in that name

my husband and i were married in england in 2006...because we were going through the whole immigration thing, i chose not to change my name at that point but would like to do it once we're in the US...anyone know how to go about it 18 months after the marriage? i'd want to change my middle and surname...
