Copy of Birth Certificate front and back? What? My birth certificate only has a front, what does the back mean?

Well, the title of my thread asks my question. I am just a little confused on this one, is there something I am missing? Do I have a bad birth certificate?

Copy the back, even if it's blank, label it, and submit it. Some certificates have information on the back, some don't, so you have to include both sides regardless.

*Some* birth certificates have writing on both the front & back (such as NC's). I made a copy of the front & back even though mine didn't have any writting on the back. Hope that helps.

Yeah, copy the back even if it's blank, and label it. My birth certificate is also blank on the back, but when I copied it I noticed that the seal imprint shows through on the copy. So I guess it's not really technically blank.

Wow, well when I had it copied im not sure if that was done. I better double check on that. Thanks a bunch for all the support and help. I really would have lost hope without this great organization.

I just copied the front cause it had all my info on it. Didn't bother doing anything else.

Can I ask why you COPIED the back even if it was blank? Did it show anything at all.....like a smudge or something? Couldn't you just copy the front and write on the back, back was blank?

Good point, maybe you can, however, see the stamp that shows it is legit.

I'm sure this is one of those gray areas where most of the time it's not going to be a problem. However, the instructions do state to copy the front and back, and you never know when you're going to get somebody who's a stickler for the details. Chances are you'll have no problem with not copying the blank reverse side, but then again how hard is it to just do it and not have to worry about it?

my birth certificate had a back. on the back it said something about if a copy of it was made that the certificate would read 'illegal copy" when it went through the copy machine. funny thing is, it never showed up on there. so i have a copy and it doesn't read that at all.

it made me laugh but i was worried they'd suspect that. i guess not!

My mom's (for AOS) didn't have a back, so we didn't copy it. Shockingly, we got approved. Oh noes!

Some have information on two sides. Mine didn't, so in my cover letter, I listed "Certified copy of Petitioner's Birth Certificate (a one-sided document).

Yodrak used to point out often that if the back is blank, you did send a copy of both sides. Compare the back of the original to the back of the copy and see if they aren't identical. Some things are actually simple.

Yeah I need to look at that. I am pretty sure when I had mine copied the woman doing the copies didn't do the back.
