Im also at a loss for helpful advice, but I am sending some sincere prayers your way. It breaks my heart to see such a large stumbling block thrown in your way after coming this far. Inchaa Allah you will overcome this hurdle. Im wishing you the best of luck for an easy path through your immigration troubles and a very long and healthy life ahead (F)

Praying for news that the first test was an error!

If not, I shall keep you in my prayers for a good response to treatment (like someone already said: think Magic Johnson)....and some good news re: AOS.

I'm sorry I have no real advice for you AOS wise, but I just wanted to let you know that you're being sent wonderful thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to heard that. They will denied you. :( That is contagious disease. :unsure:How did you get your HIV+?

rude :bonk:

:blink:am I?

Yes. Completely out of order. It's none of your, or anyone else's, business how she came to be HIV+.

Geez.

i agree sister jen and others..the lady is in shock and devastated..her life and health is in a major spiral..my prayers for her....

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I'm so sorry to hear of this, yet it's sooo wonderful that your husband is determined to support you! That must make A LOT of difference.

I happened to be listening to an interview on the radio with a doctor who works at an HIV clinic on the way to work this morning. Unfortunately, I came to listen in the middle of a point she was making, but gathered that she has seen the power of belief and positive thought do amazing things for those infected.

Best wishes in this scary time.

And, puhleaze.......YES, you were most certainly rude and out of line for asking about how she was infected. How could you EVER think that was ANY of your business????

First of all I'm sorry about your news. This is devastating news for you but it isn't the route to the end of your life. There are so many new drugs on the market now that keep HIV+ patients healthy for far longer than even five years ago. Many live full and healthy live with a decent drug regimen.

Secondly, I agree with the others here that you will need a waiver of sorts. Plus I think you also have to consider your medical treatment over here in the States. HIV+ drugs are expensive and I doubt that you would be eligible for healthcare insurance as it is now a pre-existing condition (unless you were covered before the diagnosis).

I'm not sure where your home country is but you are more likely to get decent health coverage there than in the States (specifically cost wise). I think that these matters are more important that the AOS process at the moment. Don't forget that your spouse will also need an HIV test at some point too (probably 2, one now and another in 3-6 months time).

Could you move back to your home country with your spouse (if she/he is HIV-)?

Your kind words are highly uplifting and well appreciated..

I am from TZ in Africa.Only God knows because I have lived a normal moral life and here I am...Its hard but I will learn to live with it.Currently I have a good open insurance cover but probably might change as the sickness gets to a serious point...I will know all about this when I visit a HIV specialist this Friday.Once I get the info then it will be much easier for me to make a decision medical wise.

Yes, my spouse will also be taking a test this week...

I have no problem going back to my home country, this might be the end resort. If I can not adjust my status there would be no point livingin the US idly and worse as an illegal. That would kill me faster.. I just need to make early plans..

Anyway I shall be crossing that bridge when other avenues become inaccesible....

Thanks in a big way!

You are more than welcome. I'm glad that, for now, you have a good insurance policy and that is at least one thing you don't have to worry about at present.

Keep us posted on your progress, I think you'll find that you have tons of support here on VJ. (F)

Amen to that Almaty

HIV is a serious condition itself and life changing in every aspect. No need to be unrespectful to that person on top of that, she has enough to go through already.

Sept07: You seem to be a very strong person, and I am sure you have more strenght that I would ever have to go through this. My thoughts are for you (F)

Eligibility to file a waivers for HIV+ aliens (those deemed inadmissble under INA 212(a)(1)(A)(1)) is possible under very limited circumstances

One condition is that you are the spouse of a USC

I hope that I could qualify for the slim chance...

He is a USC, very supportive and wants to be, till the end..

If he wants to be there until the end, there is no reason why he cant go to your country to live. I dont know what country you are from but its not hard to get a TEFL or TESOL certificate (i think it takes like 120 hours of classroom exp.)and he could teach english in your country. (Unless you are from like england or somewhere where they dont need english teachers.) Those teachers usually make 3 times or more what a normal teacher makes in the schools of that country and even more if he does private lessons for people. (I've seen that even in the poor countries americans making $10 per hour teaching private english lessons, while some countries like saudi arabia paying americans 3,000$ per month, but like i said i dont know what country you are from) It really does look like your lives are going to be dramatically affected by this and if he is serious about staying with you, he will pack up and leave his country to be with you, just like you were willing to leave your country to be with him.

Hope everything works out for you.

I just want to clarify that being HIV+ is no longer a death sentence. As I previously specified the drug cocktails that are available now allow many HIV+ patients to live a very FULL, healthy and normal lifespan. I have no doubt that the OP will outlive many of us here who are HIV-. ;)

I just read you are from TZ so I tried to look it up and I couldnt find out how much english teachers make in TZ, but in Kenya they make 430 KS per hour (about 6 dollars and 41 cents per hour or 7800 TS per hour in your money) at the schools, so probably he could make a bit more in the private sector. I know not alot of money, but it's 10 times more than the average Tanzanian according to the CIA.

Recieve a HUGE basket full of my appreciation.

We are discussing the possibilities of our future because as he says," we shall die together" or be there for each other whatever the condition.

Thanks for the good suggestion though teaching would definately be out of question because of his type of job here..Am a teacher so this would work well for me...Anyhow, he is searching for his type of job withing E.Africa and Kenya has high prospects..

In one way or another, something will work out..

Yes. And stating the obvious won't help much anyway. Guess that was rude now, too. Sorry!

To the OP, there was a case of a USC married to a Russion woman which was eventually approved. I read about it in another immigration forum. They were both HIV+, though, don't know if this makes any difference.

Health insurance (or the lack thereof) will be the biggest hurdle to overcome, IMO.

Good luck and all the best for you!

Have you talked to an immigration lawyer?

That sounds encouraging.

My hubby has not gone for a test yet but will tomorrow.

I will research more on the possibility of our approval while we prepare fo any outcome.

My intentions are to go for a second test then go ahead and look for a lawyer if we are completely satisfied that the results are +ve..

We have a good insurance coverage and are hoping that nothing changes.

Thanks.
