hmmm... thats a good question.. i made a research and i found out... its allowed to have tint but with limitations...

Texas Window Tint Law

Texas Tint Law Enacted: 2003

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN TEXAS?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Texas, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.

Front Side Windows Must allow more than 25% of light in.

Back Side Windows Must allow more than 25% of light in.

Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN TEXAS?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.

Front Side Windows Must not be more than 25% reflective.

Back Side Windows Must not be more than 25% reflective.

OTHER TEXAS RULES AND REGULATIONS

Restricted Colors The tint color(s) of RED are not legal by state law.

Side Mirrors Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.

Certificate Requirements Manufacturers of film need to certify the film they sell in the state. Ask your dealer if they are using ceritified film.

Sticker Requirements The sticker to identify legal tinting is required between the film & glass on the driver’s side window.

Medical Exemption State allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.

I personally think it's kind of tacky for a Jeep. I have a Jeep Sahara and would never do that to my baby. ^_^

The police in SoCal don't like walking up to a car where they can't see inside and I certainly don't blame them

Tickets for window tint in Texas are pretty steep, I got two of them once at the same time. one for my tint being too dark and one for the eyebrow being lower than it should be on the front glass. I think it cost me over $400.00 :help:

I got 4 tickets that day, window tint (what he pulled me over for), eyebrow tint, no insurance (dropped), expired registration (dropped) Don't think I had my license on me that day either, but he let that go after he found me with my date of birth and full name. It just wasn't my day.

To top it all off, I had my 2 year old nephew in the backseat offering the cop a donut.

A mirror tint will make you very unpopular with other drivers, as the sun will be reflected into their eyes; it's a tad difficult to drive when you are blinded ;)

I am not a fan of mirror tints, for the reasons Scott mentioned as a well as the fact that it makes the cars look a bit, in my estimation, like Hot Wheels.

I absolutely hate it! I'll almost get a migraine when I get behind someone with tint like that and see the bright flashes of light reflecting from it.

All of the reasons stated...

It's tacky and it's annoying as hell to other drivers.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I'd go with black, not mirror. As for other comments of "Police don't like it..." If they approach a cargo van without windows, a semi with a sleeper, an RV or bus with the shades drawn, or any other of the thousands of vehicles with obstructed views, they have no idea whether an entire gang of people sit in the rear waiting to jump him. So maybe we should only allow cars covered in all glass? :P Outlawing window tint does NOT protect any law enforcement officer.
