Rememberence Thread

For some reason, I always think of the brave souls on Flight 93 first. I dunno why - I guess I like their 'fight back' attitude. Their actions saved countless more lives, no doubt.

Today's a tough day for everyone, I think (well, anyone with a heart anyway).

I had been out of town on a business trip on 9/11, and Flight 93 went down about an hour or so from where I grew up. But the national news only reported 'southwestern PA', and when I made it home I had several worried messages from college friends wondering if the plane had hit anything near me. For some reason, that memory, and the memory of my 11-year-old sister tackling me when I came through the door (hey, all she knew was that planes were flying into office buildings) pretty much are seared into my mind.... that and finally seeing the footage of the second plane flying into the towers around six that evening having only heard the audio all day.

That day.... It was my Mom's birthday. It was my Aunt's birthday. It was my Cousin's birthday. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. I had a loved one in the north tower. I still cannot bring myself to deal with the events of that day, let alone read the comments in this thread. I tell myself I will come back to it when I'm stronger. I'm not yet stronger. I pray for all the survivors of that day. I pray for all the families of those who were not. I pray for all of us who were witness to such a horrible, tragic, and nonsensical action. I pray we will never be witness to such as this ever again. Amen.

we have a teacher who bought one of the flags that honours the victims and she made a bulletin board out of it. you can also purchase a flag that honours the heroes.

our kids had an extra moment of silence this morning before class in memory of the victims and in honour of the heroes.
