The comments posted after the videos were pretty depressing to me. The fact that the majority of posters thought that the questionaire on the first video was British goes to show that there are many more ignorant people out there. I once posted a question on Yahoo! Answers asking why Geico decided to give the Geico lizard a British accent and I had at least half-a-dozen people respond saying he was Australian! However, ignorance is universal, the Daily Mail loves to carry stories highlighting how British youngsters are so blissfully unaware of what is happening around them. I remember one such article where it was found that most kids can't identify the UK on an world map, others thought Germany won World War 2 and some thought Shakespeare was a film director!

THAT VIDEO IS SO SAD!!!! I am ashamed that we in American do not know what is really going on around us. Since I have met my fiance, I have made it a point to learn everything there is to know about his culture and have increased my knowledge leaps and bounds. I am proud of what his country has had to endure in the past and hope that they continue to prosper. In American, we take for granted too much and sometimes I am very ashamed to say that I am an American and this video proves it even more.

We need to learn everything that we can everyday. I say that you should learn something new every day! Maybe we need to ask these questions on these forums and get some good use out of it. Maybe we could lean a lot from each other. I mean, where else can we find so many countries and so many personalities in one place. I am willing to learn about anything.

I don't think the good, if somewhat factually challenged, people in either video are representative of America or England as a whole. But it is mystifying to see and hear some of the answers given such as what were Hiroshima and Nagasaki famous for? "judo wrestling" The guy HAD to be old enough to have at least been a child during that era, how on earth could he live without once hearing about the two cities in Japan we dropped the atomic bombs on?? Or the woman who had to have been at least alive, if not a flower child of the 60's who believed we had won the Vietnam War, assuming of course we were in it??
