it really is quite sad...i wont say that the majority of americans are this way, but i will say that in my 22 years i have encountered many many many people that would slide right into this pathetic category...its really quite embarassing to go abroad and overhear conversations that other americans are having with people from other countries...the people from other countries know more about america than the americans! they dont know about their own country, let alone the country that they are visiting! im not going to list the numerous ridiculous quotes compliments of my fellow classmates while studying abroad in italy, i will say one thing though---

read a book for chrissake!!!!

actually ill leave you with one quote (keep in mind, this is a COLLEGE student studying in a foreign country)

'oh wow, you can read books? i dont know, i would like to read, but i just get a headache whenever i try...either that or i end up falling asleep'
