It would have to be consular processing, so no AoS to consider.

K1 has to adjust status after marrying in the US to get the green card and then after getting green card , she can do I 130

that's why i say bring the child with K 2

I agree that K2 makes much more sense. But as we've said above, the OP would petition the child as he's the stepparent and a USC, if they did need to go down the I-130 route, so there would be no AoS stage to consider.

We want my fiancees child to arrive at least a year after we marry, so we can establish a home in a good school district.  If the k2 visa is only good for 6 months after the fiancee receives her k1, what is the process to get the child to America after her mother is married and applied for change of status?  Thank you.

Keep in mind that the K visa expires 6-month after the medical exam, not the interview.

Also, contrary to what many people say here, it can certainly be a good idea to for your K1 to come first.  Its common in the Philippines for the aunt and other relatives to care for the child, and there are many many reports on the Philippines forums/discussion groups of problems when the K2 comes with them right away. Many of these K1 regret not coming alone and getting settled in their new home assuring everything is stable with their family life before bring their K2.   The 1 year "K2 to follow" option may be the best balance.  Only you know your unique family situation and culture and what would be best for you and your fiancée.

But to the other people's point, I would agree regarding the school district issue, you can do all that well ahead of time and to go beyond that, to get deeper insight, will take for years and probably not until the child is already attending school,  .. its not a valid concern ... but establish a home, family life, and so forth are great points, many of which people greatly underestimate ... depending on many many variables that no one here has any idea what yours are.

As I understand it (please correct me if I am wrong), the OP can go the K-2 "follow to join" route, but the K-2 DS-160 would have to be submitted within a year of the K-1 visa being issued....After a year, the OP would have to go the consular processing route with an I-130.

(Disclaimer:  The K-2 would have to meet the other requirements as a K-2)

Petitioned in March, was just approved.  Her daughter will remain with grandparents and aunts.

We're open to the daughter coming at the same time, but I'm asking what is the anticipated timeline if we wait until later?  3 months, 6 months....1 Year?

Good Afternoon,

I’m not sure of your timeline, but when my wife and daughter arrived on K-1 and K-2 visas, we timed it so that the school year was just ending. This gave us all summer to find the right school for our child.

Since it’s November now, it might make sense to wait until summer for her arrival to avoid rushing school enrollment, or to have her arrive a bit later.
