Sorry, not sorry, but dairy in the US is gross compared to Canada and Europe.  Mini-B probably does need lactose free milk and it can be easier on the system considering how poor the dairy is here.

Rant, see man:

Costco has changed the formulation of its 2% lactose-free milk, didn't ask us or anyone man.

Calcium content has increased, for one negative thing man.

Mini-B. almost couldn't drink it, "It tastes sour, yuck man," yuck man.

We can taste a negative difference, too, yuck man.

We have no idea how to complain to Costco, they wouldn't listen anyway man.

It is odd isn't it, that different brands of milk really do taste different (though they all taste like rot to me). I would gather it is a change in farm supplier and the cow is eating something different unless of course they have sold you a bad supply. After so many years of living here my husband can no longer consume any dairy.. not even the lactose free it seems. Thankfully there are many good alternatives in nut and soy milks.

Well, perhaps, maybe Y ma'am.

We compared the ingredients in the old vs. new Costco milk, cartons of each handy man.

The new stuff has far more calcium in it than does the old, note we man.

Mama T-B. had previously requested "no added calcium" in milk for herself because of taste, si man.

We finally understand what she was talking about, comprehend belatedly we man.

We still don't know how to complain to Costco, no man.

And the Lactaid available at Sam's merely lists a percentage of minimum daily requirement, not a number, si and no and really big help thank you Lactaid man.

Thrilling Tuesday report, see man:

Took doc-discouraged bedtime HSM, zzz'd nearly till alarm, and in far less hip-pain, so much for medical science even if we are hosing our kidneys man.

Visited favorite large thrift store on sale day and spent much time there, thorough we man.

We found Many (2x2x2 +2) shirts + 1 pants for Mini-B. and a t-shirt for us, find we man.

We saved $Many ($2x2x2x2) off full price, F$@M.

We had not supped all day, no man.

On way casa-ward, we searched for a place where we had a coupon, no find place we man.

We decided to go to Sam's, on itinerary anyway man.

We found frozen/refridged stuff for Two Guys week, must've missed it on first visit man.

We got ourself 2 bags of store-brand cheaps, self-indulge we man.

We then stood in café line for Many (2 Manyzen) -- si man, Many (2 Manyzen) -- minutes to get our hot dog/drink while idiots in front made complex orders, :ranting:  we and the long line behind us man.

Our cold stuff was rapidly thawing, :ranting:  man.

Our service took just a few seconds, :ranting:  man.

Our hot dog was cold, :ranting:  man.

Breakfast/lunch/din-din (at half-past Many p.m.) was the aforementioned hot dog + Pepsi Zero, ingest we man.

Sadly, it failed to occur to us that we had bypassed "the" Chinese buffet on way to Sam's, :bonk:  man.

Some consolation that the actual ingestational outcome is certainly better for our waistline, waist not want not man.

Serviced expectant miu upon casa arrival, service miu we man.

Watched TV news and consumed newly purchased cheaps, ingest dessert we man.

Attempted siesta failed, :ranting:  man.

Finally dished the warsher, must de-dish when finished man.

Went through Mini-B.'s closet to pull out shirts still stinking after first use of gas dryer, noxious man.

Warshering hot/hot, we used unscented powder with vinegar in rinse compartment, only cure man.

After baking & cooldown, we shall smell them to intuit acceptability, hopeful we man.

If they are acceptable, they go back in closet, si man; if not, they get donated, sigh man.

Mini-B.'s shirts bought today will either be extras or replacements, reason we man.

We have one set of queen sheets to be similarly treated, stinking up linen closet all this time man.

Linen closets should smell fragrant, not of first-use-of-gas-dryer stench man.  :ranting:

No party with the rubias tonight, no cavort we man.

No major plans for Wednesday, T-B.-mobile inspection and maybe Costco man.

Wednesday is Two Guys eve,  man.

We and ex-Mrs.-T-B. must find out why Mini-B.'s grades are going straight south, :girlwerewolf2xn:  man.

And that was/is our thrilling Tuesday, report we man.

Some people just can't do it.  I can't do tons of it - I typically stick to half n half in my coffee and some yogurt.  Kid2 was horribly allergic to dairy proteins when he was a baby.  We found out at around a year of age when he stopped nursing.  My poor carpet - we had like 18 incidents in 21 days when we were trying to transition him onto regular dairy milk.  He did outgrow it, but he's not ever been a lover of cheese or chocolate as a result.

Hubs went through a period where he couldn't do any US dairy.  We went to Europe for 3 weeks and he had no issues there.  He seems to do OK now, but he only consumes select things.  Mozzarella is a big one because we have a forno pizza oven.  He lived in Italy for 3 years, so the pizza has to be "correct" or bust.  If you want to pay big bucks, you can get Buf water buffalo cheese from Whole Foods.  But, he can tolerate a couple of the better quality Italian style mozzarella cheeses found in the deli section at HEB.

After several days in the Keys I start to decompress and then I'm getting up with the sun.  Or maybe it has something to do with the alcohol??

And besides, there is no Walmart here.

The new stuff has far more calcium in it than does the old, note we man.

Your posts got me to thinking about my adventures with milk and dairy.

Mama Neon likes to tell the stories of when I was a baby and could not tolerate milk.  I used to throw up all the time, especially when my father would come home for lunch.  While he was holding me I would bless him with my stomach contents.  Then of course he would have to change before he returned to work.  They switched me to soy milk.  Of course I don't remember any of this.  I must have outgrown this problem early because as far as I can remember I've always been drinking milk.  Still do.

Used to drink whole milk, then as an adult worried about "fats" in the diet switched to skim milk...yuck.  As my father always said "skim milk is just colored water"  After that for a long time I drank 2%.  A few years ago I switched back to whole milk, and have some every day.  Of course in coffe it's 1/2 and 1/2.

I am also addicted to ice cream, but I try to control myself.  For the past few years I have usually had no sugar added or carb smart ice cream.  They use sugar alcohols which are OK in moderation, but there are times I am not moderate.  Then I'm kind of gassy and stinky, but who cares...LOL.

Ouch.  Just went and filled up the Neonmobile and filled 4 5gal containers for the boat.  $131 and change.  And that was up in Marathon where gas is much cheaper @ $4.19 a gallon.  On our island it's $4.77. Bet there won't be as many boats on the water this weekend, that and the fact a lot of our snowbirds have headed north.

On the way to Marathon (had to stop at Home Depot anyway) drove past the local waterside RV park and noted almost half the spaces are empty.  That's a good thing for us locals!  A big change from just a few weeks ago when it was full.  Of course it will be full again with Floridians for Memorial day weekend and 4th of July.

Of note:  I was in the water yesterday to make improvements on the dock and the water temp was 84 so no chill here.

that's something i've never understood about marina gas - it's way higher than gas at a gas station - yet they have no road tax (or should not be charging for road tax)

Captive aduience, or consumer.

And the prices I mentioned here, $4.77, was roadside.  I can only imagine what it must be at the marina.  I run through it fast enough that I don't even bother with ethanol free.  I do usually throw some stabilizer in however.
