Bona Fide Evidence for Visa Appointment

Hello Everyone!

 

I am preparing more evidance for Bona Fide Marriage for my husband's visa appointment in October.  Should I inlcude the same photos we submitted for the I130? Or should I just include new evidance ie; photos, chat logs, and some wire transfers that have been made?

If it's "more" evidence, it should be "in addition" to what's already been submitted.  The consulate has what you sent with the I-130.  Do you have evidence from further visits that you made after submitting the I-130?  Time spent together in person supersedes all else.

I actually lived with my husband in Honduras during the I130 process.  I just left in July to restablish domocile here and start my new teaching job.  We do have a few pictures we took right before I left, which I will submit to the consulate. Although it feels like an eternity we have only been living apart for 2 months now. Our chat logs are pretty consistant with daily greetings, good nights, Bible studies together and video chats, as well as coversations about preparing for the appointment and when I was choosing an apartment here- where we were making joint decisions.

That's fine.  Document what you have without overwhelming the consulate with chats -- select several crucial pieces of evidence supporting your bona fide relationship and include those.

The most crucial evidence is the evidence you were staying together long term.  You entry and exit stamps in your passport are primary evidence of that, as are airline boarding passes.  Photos are secondary but include if you have.  Leave out the wire transfers.  They are evidence of money going one way, not comingling of finances.  Evidence you are supporting the foreign spouse are not helpful to the foreign spouse showing a bona fide relationship with a US Citizen Petitioner.

 

Skip the chats. Your time together is far more important.

Chiefly rely on what pushbrk says, and include (or bring to the interview, and be prepared to discuss) a very few (= the key words) subsequent chats that confirm your continuing commitment to build a life together.

Coming back around to share what happened. The visa was approved today.  (See my review on the Embassy in Tegucigalpa).  Super annoying, but some of the Honduran staff repeatedly asked for W-2's which I dont have because I was employed in Honduras for 7 years.  When my husband reached the interviewer, (American) she of course understood why I would not have a W-2.

 

The officer DID NOT remove the joint sponsor.  I am not exactly sure why, but she did ask my husband if they were willing to continue joint sponsorship and he said yes.  She asked questions specifically about them during the interview.  I am wondering if it is because Honduras is a high profile country. But for anyone reading this it may not be possible to remove a joint sponsor once it has been submitted to the NVC, maybe it depends on the country, I do not know.  my husband then recieved a concratulations letter with instructions on how to pay the immigration fee. He said the interviewer was very professional and took her time with his case.

Yes, parts of this experience can be traumatic, but it's done.  Better times are ahead.

Removal of the joint sponsor or not is more likely about the totality of circumstances than the country.
