So like many others here our papers had been stuck with USCIS as an approved I-129F for about 2 1/2 months before they finally shipped it to the NVC (approved april 21st, shipped July 1) We then waited 5 weeks before calling NVC (August 5th) instead of making a personal inquery to see if we could get our case number, alas NVC had yet to recieve our papers from USCIS at that date.

Yesterday (August 12th) just a week after we finally get a letter from NVC! Opening it expecting our welcome letter, but nope, it was the notification that our application had been processed and sent on to the embassy here in sweden! It already being done at NVC and shipped.

Since there has been such delays for several people with the USCIS to NVC stage as of late I figured I'd post our situation to give people some hope and send well wishes that others get as lucky with their process as we did.

just a tidbit for anyone

the I-129f/K1 visa applicants don't receive a "welcome letter" from the NVC. the welcome letter is for certain types of visas, typically immigrant visas (like the spousal), where all documents are submitted to the NVC and the NVC schedules interviews for those visas.

K1 visas are technically nonimmigrant visas, so K1 visa applicants schedule their interview themselves (for the most part) and bring their documents to their embassy at the time of the interview.

you'll more than likely get an email or letter from your embassy for next steps.

good luck!

Stockholm is very quick about stuff, the only thing I had trouble with was finding an interview slow, but other than that they are great so best of luck to you guys!

You mean finding an interview slot?

what was the earliest you could book your interview? And how did you do it? As I understand it’s after paying for the DS-160

I think it took two weeks, but it all depends on which days they release. Around the time I did this back in march I know some lady logged in april 1st and got a may slot. I eventually got a slot in june. The issue is that they just release a few at a time so you have to keep checking. My timeline will tell you exactly when I got sent to nvc and such but there was nothing for two weeks and all of a sudden they put out dates for june and I could pick one. I know someone right after me and ho had to wait for july dates but they could have just gotten unlucky. They only do K1s on mondays and when I got to it the day I picked only had that one slot so i when they release a whole month that can be only 4-8-12 actual appointments, I don’t know. I just picked one and went with it because there had been nothing for what felt like forever. So my advice is to not pre-plan anything until you have that date. 😅

Oh and how you do it is you get a link and you log in to a visa scheduling site and then you pick from a calendar there. Just don’t get discouraged if it’s empty, keep checking 1-2 a day (early morning and late afteroon seemed to work for me).
