Hi, this doesn't make sense.

My thoughts as well.  Sounds like a mistake of some kind.

Thank you very much!

If fathers resident since is 2017, it's too early to renew green card, only eligible in June 2026, e.g. roughly in a year. What form did you file for renewal? I-90?

Why did the child receive conditional card?

Is this marriage based card?

If yes, was marriage less than or more than 2 years old on 12/17/17?

Afraid I’ve no idea, this doesn’t make much sense. If the OP only has 30 days to respond then I think an urgent lawyer consultation is the way to go.

Marriage was more than two years old before 12//17/17. I am not sure what is marriage based card but I will say we got married in Ghana for a couple of years before I was granted a visa .

OK, then maybe son got wrong card?

Why would he get conditional GC if father got permanent on same day?

Did you file I-90 for son's card in the past?

What is letter saying?

It’s really odd. My first thought was that maybe the OP didn’t sort his son’s GC when the child turned 14?

Lawyer time IMO, they can’t mess around with this.

Please check son's alien number (A-number) with EOIR: https://acis.eoir.justice.gov/en/

Hopefully he is not in removal proceedings (deportation)

Looks like you may need a lawyer to research whether son is conditional resident and write a brief to explain why I-751 doesn't apply to him.

Really strange, sounds like an error on their end if he was given a 2 year GC and you were given a 10 year one. But you need to sort this urgently.

Also, did you replace his GC when he turned 14 as required? https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-we-grant-your-green-card/replace-your-green-card

Not that uncommon for CR to be issued a 10 year less common for a IR to be issued a 2.

Should have requested a 10 years for free USCIS mistake.

It's imperative that you check documentation for accuracy when you receive it.  You should have filed an I-90 to correct your son's greencard to an IR-2 when you received it.  We had the same thing happen to Kid2.  We filed the I-90 right away and received a properly statused IR-2 greencard with a 10 year expiration.

Did you ignore the NOA that USCIS would have sent regarding his greencard before the 2yr expiration?  We received a notice for ROC but had already applied and received an updated GC for Kid2, so we were in the clear.  You were not.

This is definitely not a DIY anymore.  You will need a lawyer to fix this.
