Hi all,

I had my Naturalization interview two days ago; it went fine and we got handed a sheet of paper saying we were recommended for approval (I'm also pending my removal of conditions).

I went back through all my applications just to check everything was looking good (I don't want anything slowing me down), and saw a stupid mistake that I'm angry i didn't catch before i submitted the application. On my I-485 application back in 2021, I put my employment history, and the start date of my last job in England was 04/02/2019. I made a mistake on my N-400 that I just caught now that the start date is listed as 04/09/2019. Silly mistake, I know.

Should I bring this to USCIS's attention? I have my original work contract I can share with them. Or should just wait to see if they send us an RFE

Thanks all, go gentle on me 😅

Ideally you should have checked it before submitting N-400. Or mention it during interview if you discovered it after submitting.

Having said that, I don't believe this is a material issue. I'm not 100% sure this needs to be addressed unless you get an RFE.

Agreed, I am very angry at myself for not catching it sooner. I only noticed it just now.

It's OK, mistakes happen.

I'd imagine employment dates were never discussed with officer at all?

It's not like you'd gain anything by falsifying start date of employment in England.

He only asked about my current role; I had an employee verification letter from my work that I shared with him that included my current job title, salary and start date (01/09/2023).

I think you are fine.  Just keep watching your I-751 status and N-400 status.   Big milestone in the near future-  The Oath!!!!

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Ok, so this is the point we need to intervene.

The old guard here knows what you are going thru and it's time we've had a chat with you.🤣😂

Step away from the paperwork. Put it back in it's box/drawer and leave it alone. You have done what was required. You have been informed that you are recommended for approval. Now it's time to stop looking for problems and just wait for the process to run it's course.

You have no more influence over any of this. If they want something they will contact you.

Breath (in and out is advisable) and go do something else. I you haven't heard anything in 120 days it's time for you to do something again.

And no sneaking a peak at the stuff when you think we're not paying attention either.

Wise words 😂 nothing like being so close to the finish line! You're right though, I need to take my mind off of this and accept it's in USCIS hands and they will let me know and it's good to go. Thanks

Not sure why this would be an issue. A few days mistake in employment start date? I don't think this is what they are concentrating on honestly. Yes ideally, everything should be accurate, but also this just an honest mistake, you are not trying to falsify anything for naturalization. I highly doubt this will ever come up. Relax and enjoy the finish line.

Violent physical exercise is a BIG help.  :P

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
