I am US Citizen. I applied for my wife on. I applieied online and received only receipt number.

They received my application on November 20th , 2023.

Now it has been more than 20 months now ,but they still cannot take decision. I can check the status online my progress.  They just  keep extending the time when given time is over.

As far as I know it takes not more that 12 months.

Should I write a letter to my Congressman and senator about my case?  I am thinking about doinjg it. It is way out of processing time.

Is  there any form to white a letter to congressman or Senator?

How do I know which state or field office is processing my application since there is no info other than receipt number.

If you are past normal processing time, you can file an online case inquiry:

What does your online status say when you check it?

Your service centre should be on the receipt notice, bottom left.

As @carmel34 said, you need to submit an enquiry once your case is outside normal processing times. According to the processing times page (scroll right down to find the tool) your case is processing normally now. 17 months is the norm (but only for 80% of cases - so 1 in 5 will take longer) and you can submit an enquiry on 18th Sept. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ Any sent before that wouldn’t usually be responded to, but wait a couple of months and if you haven’t had an approval by then you can enquire.

Bene's country?

criminal history of the USC?

Has the bene ever overstayed a US visit prompting a bar for a few years?

And according to case processing times on the USCIS says most cases are done in 67.5 months so they don't promise anything and are poor to update

I know this leaves USC in Limbo and puts life on hold / so very sorry

I would reach out to your Senator.  I am December 9, 2023- already approved, approved by NVC and waiting for Embassy appointment now.

Per the processing times on USCIS.gov.  50% of immediate relative I-130s are completed in 14.8 months, 80% in 17 months, and 93% in 22 months.  You can file an inquiry on Sept. 18, 2025.  You can try also applying for a K-3 visa.  It's a long shot but some think it encourages them to do the I-130 faster.  It's also free and takes less than 30 minutes.  I would file the I-129F for a K-3, do an inquiry after Sept. 18th, and contact congressman.  If no approval by Nov., I'd sue.

K-3 is dead, an urban myth sadly
