Hi

I currently do not have a personal insta id. My company insta id is the one i have on my phone where clients contact me for queries. Do i have to mention this id on ds 160 or not since its not a personal id?

This is b2 visa renewal btw.

Afraid I disagree with @smilingstone. It asks for any social media you’ve used in the past 5 years, it doesn’t specify just personal accounts. It also asks for LinkedIn which is business. I put my business accounts on mine, I wouldn’t risk it personally and would just include them all.

Hmmm, isn't Visa Journey a social media account?

I personally wouldn't class VJ as social media. I think the term is so broad now that many sites that require an account could be classed as such, but aren't used in the same ways as things like X, Facebook, Instagram, etc. So where do you draw the line?

I completely agree though, that if in doubt, best to include it as its easier for USCIS to determine something as irrelevant, rather than feel relevant info is missing.

However, if I was employed by Big Company Ltd to make posts on their social media account, where the log in is shared or not my own, it doesn't show my own name and I am not posting anything on a personal level, only what is dictated by the comoany, I wouldnt count that as MY social media and therefore wouldn't include it. But that's just me!

Any platforms that allow you talking to other people are social media websites.

Including internet forums, which VJ is.

I agree about work accounts, they're not personal accounts. But any personal accounts, even if you use nicknames instead of real names, should be disclosed, at least with strict interpretation of DOS rules. I'm glad I wasn't subject to these rules. I would have had disclosed many of accounts I have.

And the problem is, this can always be used against current filers, if they forget to list one of tens of accounts they may have.

I run a business Instagram account but it’s my own, I’m not employed by anybody to do it (just as well, as I’d be fired as I’m utterly useless at it!). I’m self employed.

Very few people will be employed as social media managers, but tons will have a social media page for their own business and switch to it using their personal profile. It sounds as though the OP is in a similar situation so I’d say it should be included for that reason.

Like almost every form you sign for government entities, the DS160 has the "to the best of my knowledge" routine. so to the best of my knowledge it would not have to be mentioned while other people here feel that to the best of their knowledge it should. You have to pick one of the 2 and go that way.

The fact that you asked it here leads me to believe you feel you should mention it so go ahead and do that. When you get to the interview they will ask you about it and then you have the option to explain.

OP, your success in this immigration process depends on your ability to read carefully, interpret literally, and respond completely & accurately.  "Any" means any, so interpret this instruction literally.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
