I filed a I-130 for my wife in The Philippines on Feb 2nd 2025. Then recently I used the Unsolicited Evidence to upload additional documents of my recent trip to the Philippines. I did this to reinforce "Bona Fides of Relationship" and I uploaded it as Bona Fides of Relationship. 3 days later I noticed my "Progress Tab" went from 17 months to 20 months. Can someone help me understand this please? Does Adding additional information in Unsolicited Evidence increase your Process Time ??

Thank you,

My progress is a random number generator that has nothing to do with your case progress. It can be safely be ignored and you can keep uploading unsolicited evidence to help strengthen your case.

Thank you for your reply. May I ask, how can you be so sure about this? It is more than a coincidence that right after my upload it increased my time by 3 months while prior to that it was decreasing evenly every month. What is the basis of your answer to this question?

Because it’s the universal experience with the USCIS Random Number Generator (dba MyProgress) :)

USCIS is remarkably consistent in the timing of straightforward cases filed around the same time. If you have no issues, you will be approved around the same time most people from the week you filed were.

Currently the average wait time is 14.5 months. It’s been as high as 17, but is on a downward trend. I filed in January at the height of the consular I-130 delays and my estimated time has been at 19 months since day 1 and hasn’t moved.  USCIS hasn’t taken that long (on average) in recent memory and there’s nothing complex in my case. My petition for my spouse is likely to be approved early next year.

I uploaded additional relationship evidence as unsolicited evidence and my wife's I-130 was approved shockingly fast just a week later.  I do not believe the additional unsolicited evidence was at all responsible for the shockingly fast approval but I can say with 100% confidence that it DID NOT slow anything down.

The progress tab estimate is almost certainly completely meaningless and in no way has the slightest correlation too how long your case will actually take.

When you get to the NVC stage, that is where submitting additional evidence resets your document review wait time.  Not so with USCIS.

The 'My Progress' bar is utterly useless, please ignore it completely! For example, for my daughter's case the day before we got her approval it still said '16 months' on it, and the day we got the approval it jumped up to '27 months'. 😂

Go with the official USCIS processing times page as that's usually far more accurate. The 'My Progress' bar is pointless and I wish they'd get rid of it as all is does is cause unnecessary stress.

MyProgess showed 3 weeks until decision for N-400 on day of my oath.

Originally, it's showed 7 months, but case took 3.5 months.

I have a collection of users on VJ reporting MyProgress showing wrong estimate. Do you want me to post them here?
