Wanted to provide a quick timeline for my journey! 

 

- Filed June 20

- Receipt notice on July 2nd

- Notification that Biometrics were being reused on July 4th.

- Interview scheduled notice on August 8th, interview scheduled for September 27th.

Unfortunately we were leaving for an international trip on July 26th. After a lot of googling and searching through visa journey and reddit about rescheduling, I decided it was necessary as we could not adjust the trip. Called the number on the letter and got through to someone right away who assisted with cancelling the interview and let me know I would be put back in the queue for scheduling. Gave them the reason for the reschedule (international trip) and she asked for the dates of the trip to add to the request.

 

- September 8th I received the rescheduled interview date for Oct 20, a week after I returned from the trip.

 

Interview went as smooth as possible considering the office was impacted by the AWS outage happening. Passed the civics test, and the reading and writing portion and was recommended for citizenship! Will now wait for my oath ceremony letter and date, which the officer said should be around the 2nd week of November. No questions about why I rescheduled the interview, request did not even come up during the interview process. 

Wanted to share my timeline here as someone who was successful with the reschedule, especially after reading all the responses to others asking about reschedules and the negative view on rescheduling! Waiting on the oath, but great to be one step closer to being a citizen!

- If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President? (I did think this was a little funny given it was asked directly after the first one, but its all random so just a silly coincidence!)

they're generated by random from the list, so the questions he was asked aren't specifically helpful, could be you are asked none of them.

Well today was the day, what a bitter sweet moment.

 

So we arrived around 20min before the scheduled time. We tried getting there earlier, but train delays.

When we got there, there was a huge line which had us worried. It moved very slow, then got a little faster.

And much like the airport, people couldn't manage to stay in line, tried all gathering in front, many were way too early and the guards had to repeatedly tell them they'll not going to let them in and come back later, but they didnt' seem to understand.

Surprisingly the security line inside moved faster, then it was a fight to get on an elevator.

We ended up just being a few minutes later, which wasn't a problem because they didn't start until 30 min after anyway. But still nerve wracking.

 

Despite asking people to dress well, a lot could care less, someone didn't even wear deodorant unfortunately  😅

 

It was about 15 min max and we were out of there, quite surprising. I read the ones that take place in court rooms are actually longer. 

 

They only gave the certificate, not even a folder! luckily we brought one, though that was kinda poopy.

 

Actually going to miss the process a bit, minus all the waiting.

Maybe I should apply to be an officer 😆

Congratulations

I had similar thought. I think many got trauma bonded with USCIS to an extent. That's probably why I'm sticking here on VJ, even though I got the citizenship and not sponsoring anyone.
