A Tense Poland Votes as the World Watches

 

Poland will hold a presidential runoff election on Sunday, with polls indicating a neck-and-neck race between a liberal pro-European Union mayor and a Trump-backed conservative from the Law and Justice (PiS) party.

In a victory for European conservatives inspired by U.S. President Donald Trump, Nawrocki secured 50.89% of the vote, election commission data showed, an outcome that presages more political gridlock as he is likely to use his presidential veto to thwart Prime Minister Donald Tusk's liberal policy agenda.

Tusk's government has been seeking to reverse judicial reforms made by the previous nationalist Law and Justice (PiS) government, but current President Andrzej Duda, a PiS ally, has blocked its efforts - a pattern Nawrocki is likely to continue.

Nawrocki's rival, Rafal Trzaskowski, the liberal Warsaw mayor who was standing for Tusk's ruling Civic Coalition (KO), got 49.11%, the data showed. Both candidates had declared victory immediately after the publication of an exit poll late on Sunday that showed the result would be very close.

Why were the Poles tense?  Was it rather the elite Pro-EU "progressives" that were tense?  I suspect like in other EU countries, these folks will try and negate the election.  Democracy!

This guy is the Temu version of Trump. He was basically completely unknown before the election and during the election it came to light that he is a former (or not former) hooligan that participated in huge fights between polish football firms.

Also various shady connections to polish gangsters and a huge scandal where media discovered he took over an apartment of a sick person stuck in a welfare house. He also signed a contract promising lifelong help and assistance to the guy, yet he abandoned him not long after taking over the flat. He also loaned a quite big sum of money on a huge interest rate to this person.

Everyone expected these revelations to bury chances of winning but they actually changed nothing. His opponent is the current mayor of Warsaw who speaks several foreign languages and studied in France, yet he lost again to a complete outsider. Now various right wingers congratulate the victor, including Andrew Tate.

So you are saying people need to vote for who the elite want us to vote for?  Maybe it is a case of folks waking up to the mechanizations of the likes of the WEF and Klaus Schwab.
