Hey everyone, so I have a transit flight through Detroit. I have 3 passports. Passport 1 is expired but still holds my US tourist visa(R B1/B2) that is valid till 2029. Passport 3 is my newest and passport 2 is in between. Passport 2 is still valid till December but since I have passport 3 it is technically invalid.

I have had a transit flight via the US before with passport 1 and 2 but now I have a sudden trip that transfers through there again and I am worried since I have 3 passports. Passport 3 has text that informs that I have traveled on passport 2 before and passport 2 informs passport 1. Would I be able to transit through the US if I carry all 3?

Your question is very confusing. You hold 3 nationalities?

You need a valid passport that is passport 3.

You also need a visa, which is in passport 1.

Passport 2 is irrelevant in my humble opinion, but you can carry it.

I don't see a problem, why do you think there would be?

Cause the official sites online say bring both which refers to two. Also my country's passport says in it that this person previously traveled on this passport num but only have the previous number. So P3 only has P2 and P2 only has P1 so it may give the impression I only had one before. It is also kinda weird to have so many passports and US immigration is always so skeptical. Also just being extra cautious so I am not turned away at the airport. Doesn't hurt to ask people who know more. I appreciate the info!

Can you please share a link? I think what it means, bring expired passport with valid visa + new passport. 2nd passport is of no use TBH. I'm not aware of people carrying all of their expired passports they ever used to travel to the US.

First question under Visa Validity. I mean many sources have told me by now that it is fine to just have P1 and P3 cause its just the visa that matters for the layover so I'm not worried anymore. Will take P2 in case. Again, just asked to be cautious cause all the money I have spent on my trip later will be wasted.

Good attitude.  Good plan.  Good luck, and be sure to report back to us!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Haha thanks, if you're truly curious I will get back to you on it. I called my airlines to ask and they were also bewildered by the situation. Its because my country doesn't issue 10 year passports till you are 20. I got the visa near the end of P1's duration and got P2 before I turned 20 so it was only valid for 5 years. P3 is 10 years thought but yeah funny situation.

Been there done that.

I had:

Passport 1 expired/voided but with valid B1/B2 visa

Passport 2 expired/voided but with valid C1/D visa

Passport 3 valid with no visa

I had the same type of notation in mine (this passport replaces passport #.....) nobody ever looked at that.

As stated above. Airline gets to see your current valid passport and your valid visa.

At the border you hand the officer your valid passport and the expired passport with the valid visa.

I always brought them all but only gave them 2.  It's not nearly as uncommon as you might think.
