Hey guys, just did my biometrics, now it's a waiting game until April next year...what I dont know is if I can apply for Citizenship any time before the end of the 3 years.

April 1st - Filed I-751

April 13th - Received NOA1 (Extension Letter)

April 15th - Biometrics scheduled

May 2nd - Biometrics done

AFAIK you can apply for citizenship within 90 days of being in the country for 3 years as long as you satisfy the requirement of being in the country for X months (I don't remember how many months of the 3 years it is).

If you don't have your i751 approved by then, they may schedule a combo interview where you do both at the same time.

Also don't forget about marital union. Some got denied filing 90 days early when they didn't have 3+ years of living in marital union with US citizen.

well I've never been out of the country for more than 3 weeks twice last year, and that is it, this year I'll be leaving for 2 weeks and that will be all.....I don't think that these vacation periods would make a difference....

Yes, those won't make a difference. Make sure you lived with your spouse for 3+ years (not 3 years - 90 days) on the day you apply for N-400 under 3 year rule. E.g. you can be LPR for 3 years - 90 days when you apply, but you need to be married for over 3 years to US citizen when you apply. Good luck!

Biometrics done, now the wait begins. The very nice person at the biometrics appointment did tell me that I'll receive the 10 year green card via mail. I wasn't sure if that was a generic statement, or kind of a sign that things may go faster (maybe wishful thinking on my part haha -- any idea?)

Updated Timeline:
- Apr 15th 2025 - Submitted I-751 packet to Tempe, AZ via Fedex
- Apr 17th 2025 - Packet arrived, signed for at Lockbox
- Apr 21st 2025 - Received text notification that they received form i-751 and sent a receipt notice
- Apr 22nd 2025 - Check cleared and withdrawn from account
- Apr 25th 2025 - Received NOA by mail (48 month extension letter -- no OAC though, so I sent a request via the USCIS website to add it to my account)
- Apr 25th 2025 - (Evening) Case changed to biometrics appointment scheduled
- Apr 26th 2025 - Received OAC by mail allowing me to attach the I-751 case to my USCIS account (and see attached digital copies of: NOA, biometrics appointment letter)
- May 15th 2025 - Biometrics appointment
- May 15th 2025 - Case is actively being reviewed by USCIS

General statement. Of course you will receive green card in the mail, everybody gets it in the mail. The question is when. The people taking biometrics are not USCIS employees, they are contractors. They don't have a clue about people's cases.

Good luck!

Just going to put this here since there's no thread for May. We sent in the packet on May 7 and were informed of the extension on May 15. Biometrics were waived. Since we got married in April of 2023, my husband will be applying for the N-400 next May.

Why don't you create a thread?

Good luck!

I'm in some FB groups and I've seen 2 filers in end of Mar and beginning of April this year be approved without interview. Literally under 2 months from sending their packet to approval.

One of them was very similar to my case (no kids, entered a few days before me etc).

I'm wondering if the ones at the top of the pile are getting looked at first. Wishful thinking for sure but thought I'd mention it.
