Hey my April filers,

I've been MIA for the past 2 weeks, coz my fiance was visiting in town, and we've been busy just catching up with friends and family.....

I involved my Congressman yesterday and was pleased to get an very polite and attentive visa assistant. I was informed today that my case was expedited to NVC. Now all I have to do is get an appointment, any appointment, and she will then call again and get that expedited up. Man, do I feel lucky. I recommend seeing if you are also so lucky to have good representation...For once in the last few months I feel good about this process. Now I have an ally within the same government that takes eons to approve our petitions.

Thanks Deron my friend for creating this thread! Now that my fiance's back in the US, he called NVC, but no, they don't have our petition yet. :( It has been 22 days...awww :crying: I'm so envious of you now!! How did you contact your congressman?

I just found this thread...cool,

kmplisa - My fiance was able to call the US Embassy in Singapore and they told her when they had received the case from NVC. Each embassy may be a little different.

We had a surprise last Friday when I was out of town. QQ called the embassy to make sure she had everything for the interview and they said they needed a certified copy of my divorce decree. I had sent a non-certified copy in with petiton which apparently was OK for CSC to approve.

This was a surprise  because it was not listed in the instructions from US Embassy in Singapore. I went to the courthouse and got it and sent DHL, she should get Thurs a.m. Also emailed her an image copy as temp backup plan just in case she does not have in time for afternoon interview. *Thought I would mention this in case anyone else is divorced...you may want to send a certified copy to fiance in advance.

Keeping our fingers crossed for interview approval  ....TT

Welcome back rambaldi. I was trying to follow in your footsteps with the original April thread. ;) I just lost interest in anything but post-NOA2 info, that's four months I'm glad are behind me.

To find my congressman I just did a google search. After I found his website, I called his local office and just told them the issue. They gave me there visa person and within no time the wheels were turning. I'm just upset I didn't call earlier. I actually did write the main email center of the Congressman early in the process, but I never got a response.

Hi Deron...way to be proactive! I'm curious about your conversation with the visa rep from the Congressman's office. Did you just talk to them regarding the long transfer time from CSC to NVC or about the whole process in general? I'm a May filer so don't feel like I can be too pushy yet, but I'm collecting tips just in case I get desperate :)

Congratulations and best of luck on the rest of this wonderfully efficient process!

Ktjett,

I basically told them it had taken four months to be approved and now I've been sitting in the mailroom for weeks. I compared myself to a VSC filer who would have already had their SO in the USA. Honestly, she didn't seem to care too much just as long as she understood the sob story and could repeat it as needed. I was expecting, 'You're still within timeframes' type of thing, but I was lucky to get the opposite. Let's hope the same is true for getting a quick interview.

Since your May, I'd still suggest contacting them as though you anticipate further problems and you want to know your options. Maybe they'll jump on board or at worst you made the contact and can call again next month.

Good luck!

Tom, can you pls elaborate on the above? You mean you didn't call NVC to be informed by them that your petition has been received by them? QQ had to call the US embassy in Singapore? Hmm but I thought once the petition has been received by NVC, a different case no specific to the country will be issued...correct me if I'm wrong. So did QQ call the embassy with the WAC no? Coz if that's the case, I might wanna do that too...

And.. BEST OF LUCK FOR QQ's INTERVIEW!! It's the 23rd today now in Singapore. Let us know how it went!! :D:thumbs: I'm sure it will go fine! ;)

Hehe Deron I actually thought of creating an NVC to Interview thread too, but I'm glad you did it first! ;)

You're lucky you got a sympathetic visa person. So have you called the NVC after your call to your congressman? Does NVC have your petition now?

Who else has been waiting for more than 3 weeks for their petition to get to the NVC? I'm getting irritated. Called the NVC today and got a real @ss on the line who acted like I was an idiot. He answered and just said "Give me your case number" immediately, then when I told him, he said "We have no information, when did you get approved." and I told him July 31 then got...

"Well, what does it say on your NOTICE?" in a high and mighty tone. So I replied, "It says that we were APPROVED on JULY 31 and it was forwarded to NVC three weeks ago." And then he gave a big sigh like he was too above me to talk to me, then said "well we haven't gotten it yet." and hung up on me. I am so mad- I wish he'd have given his name so I could get a supervisor. What the heck is someone like that doing working with PEOPLE?

I think that might be what has to happen. It's ridiculous after ALL the delays and everything we've been through that they approve us and then just toss our petition in a room for a month before they mail it to the next destination.

Just more support for my opinion that the government treats LEGAL immigrants like trash

My fiance called NVC yesterday, they said they were wrapping up our case but the new case # was not issued yet. They say the # is assigned just before the case is shipped to the embassy, which should happen early next week. Also, they mention that there actually IS a time limit on NVC processing, which is 4 weeks. Except, I guess, for those cases which are seriously screwed and go into lengthy A/R.

Timeline
My fiance called NVC yesterday, they said they were wrapping up our case but the new case # was not issued yet. They say the # is assigned just before the case is shipped to the embassy, which should happen early next week. Also, they mention that there actually IS a time limit on NVC processing, which is 4 weeks. Except, I guess, for those cases which are seriously screwed and go into lengthy A/R.

That's good news. Like I said before it seems rather routine for Russia I'm afraid. Right now I'd settle for a week of admin review if we could just get the petition to freaking NVC rather than sitting someplace at CSC.
