Lost I-551 and need to travel in 12 hrs please help

Bad luck doesn't want to leave my side. I lost my green card in Dec and currently waiting pay ceremony (Filled N-400 in Jan). In the meantime I obtained a I-551 for my mother's day trip and can't find that now. Any chance I can travel? Feeling sad and lost beyond words.

You can try but I doubt you'll be boarded. You now need to get a boarding foil from embassy.

You can travel outwards with your country of birth's PP.

 

Coming back in is another story (probably $700+ on boarding foil).

I don’t understand how you could lose a 551- isn’t it a stamp in your passport?   How do you travel without your passport?

My I-551 was a paper stamp with my picture. It was not stamped on. I still have my passport. I am debating traveling without it and getting a Embassy foil at the international destination. 

 

My flight leaves DC via Miami and I am not sure if immigration will ask me for my green card while flying out.

This may be your only option outside of canceling your flight and rectifying the situation before leaving. Good luck.

No immigration checks when departing the US.

I've seen cbp pull people aside for questions on outbound flights in jetway. But it's not very widespread

They don't ask for your status. I've crossed path with them. They only confirm tour identity.
