Is a green card considered a visa for the question 'Have you ever been issued a US visa?' on the DS 160 application?

Hello everyone,

I'm filling in the DS 160 form for a B1/B2 visitor visa to the USA. I've previously held a green card between 2014-2020. I voluntarily returned my green card in 2020 as we cam e to live in Europe.

My question is, for the purpose of the DS 160 application, is a green card considered a visa for the question 'Have you ever been issued a US visa?'

Thank you so much for any guidance!

How did you enter the US before getting GC? On visa or ESTA?

I applied for my green card as spouse of a Cuban citizen, so via the Cuban Adjustment Act. I was in the USA during my adjustment of status process. I entered the USA prior to this via ESTA.

Thanks Powerpuff - finding this so confusing!

Thanks for clarifying. Then no, you were not issued a US visa in this instance either

Then why are you applying for a B?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Very good question. Was ESTA denied?

B is a longer and tougher road VS ESTA.

Those who have visited Cuba since 2021 are not eligible for ESTA, hence why I'm applying for B.
