Laminated Documents for IR1 Interview - An Issue?

My husband is having his interview tomorrow in the Muscat, Oman US Embassy. All of his documents are not laminated except for his birth certificate, which was done years prior due to the Pakistani paper quality being literally so thin and easy to tear. However, if you hold the laminated document against the sun, you can still see all the seals, stamps, etc. Would this cause an issue?

They shouldn't be laminated. You may find he's asked to get another copy and submit that.

Lamination voids the document. Get another BC he will be asked for another.

Since the interview is "tomorrow" it may well be too late to deal with this before the interview.  If they want a new one they will ask.  In Islamabad, it will be at least several months between the interview date and the final visa decision, so plenty of time to obtain and submit a new birth certificate, if necessary.

turns out it doesn't void international documents, only American birth certificates. The interviewer was sweet, kind and understanding. It went really great

That is great news. It might be something they accept in his country.  Either way if he can get a new one ordered while he is still in his home country it would be wise to do so just in case.
