I think it is official, Houston FO is taking 15.5 months to 19.5 months to process N400 application as of Aug 25, 2016.

Most likely the Estimate Case Completion Time in your https://my.uscis.gov/account/applicant is accurate.

We actually filed online beginning January 2018 and have our interview beginning April, so three month later. I read a meeting minutes of the association of immigration lawyers recently and one explanation was that the order of n400 processing is now 

1. New online applications

2. Complaints etc

3. Old paper application

 

It is likely that the Houston office wants to demonstrate a good througput rate and that this is only possible by focusing on online applications.

Thanks Gluck for the update. This might be very good news to reflect faster processing times in Houston FO.

 

I have few questions for you if you do not mind.

- You mentioned "We" "our", Is there more than you who filed online with Houston FO and received interview notice in less than 3 months?

- What is/ are the green card /s category for you /others (EB1, EB2, NIW)?

- Can you think of anything special about your online application to get processed that fast?

That is extremely discouraging and I'm hopeful that it is not true.  Everyone pays the same fees and I don't recall reading anywhere that online filing gets priority.  Also sounds like an excellent way to increase complaints!

You should not feel bad about faster processing time for "some" online cases. It is very reasonable that USCIS has a selection criteria to finish specific online N400 cases in 3-4 months time frame. Even the new processing time guidance is stating that first estimate period is for finishing 50% of cases and second estimate period is for finishing 93% of cases. I wouldn't be surprised if the FO is finishing 5-10% of cases in 3-4 months.

Overall, I think it is a positive news because it is giving an indication that the FO is moving cases forward from different pools. Currently the latest wait time between PD and notice for an Interview is about 445 days for Dec 28th, 29th, 30th, 2016 paper filers (NBC receipts).   

 

I am suspecting that GC category is contributing into faster processing. I expect EB1 and EB2 GC should have a role in that but I am not sure. 

I am really interested to hear from @Gluck @BigK @SamBillz @domwardbound about their GC category and if they have anything special in their application that might give them higher priority.
