My fiancée had her medical exam yesterday and was mostly cleared. However they found her self harm scars from well over a decade ago when she had a rough time in high school. (Don't worry, she has been fine since then :)). She had the foresight to go see a psychologist a few weeks ago, and they signed off saying that she is mentally sound and good to go. She brought that document with her and showed it to the people doing the medical exam but she still has to return for a follow up about it. Is this just a standard procedure? Has anyone else had experience with this? I don't think it's going to result in her being rejected or anything, just want to make sure she doesn't need to bring anything else or prepare for certain questions.

Yes it is standard in that situation.  It is probably the "Personal Evaluation".  She will probably have to pay an extra P3500 for it.  It should probably be a whole day affair like 7:00AM to 5:00PM.  If she has psych records she should bring them.  She should just be confident happy and normal and she would pass easily.  It should not be a problem.

Sadly the only psych records she has are from that recent appointment. All the records from when she was a teenager have been lost one way or another in the decade plus since then.

I don't think it would be a problem(?)  Usually the psych referral is pretty much just a formality at SLEC.  Just go along with it, do what they say and they will clear her.  It does not usually result in any kind of problem or delay.

Trying to do it ahead of time is a waste of time. When it comes tom the medical, you pay one fee and SLEC does everything. You must go through them to get approval. Previous records do nothing except immunization records.

Oh yeah forgot to ask, does this "all day affair" include immunizations? They didn't do them at the initial exam and she kind of needs to get them all done this week because next week she is out of town for work.

Immunizations are on the last day.

Last day? I thought this exam would just be a one day thing and the only reason she had to go back is for the psych exam. She's out of town next week and her interview is on the 21st, unless they can cram her in tomorrow or the 20th there's no way she can get it all done before her interview.

Exam normally spans two days

A friend of mine had his wife go through that a few months ago.  In her case she completed the first day normally.  However on the second day she was given the referral for the "personal evaluation" instead of vaccinations.  She was instructed to come back at 7:00am the next day (a third day), pay an additional P3500 and do the "personal evaluation".  That took all day and finally at about 4:00PM they cleared her and sent her up for vaccinations.  So she made it out of there about 5:00PM the third day with a fully completed medical.

Below is the paper referral she received.  If you fiance got the same, that is how it recently played out for someone else.

Well unless they can squeeze her in for tomorrow or the 20th for that 3rd day, looks like we'll have to reschedule the interview :( that or she can beg her work to let her not have to go on that business trip.

In the case of my friends wife they already had scheduled it for the following day at the time she received the referral.  What were your fiancée's instructions when she got the referral?  Isn't there already an appointment date?

The only date they ever gave her was for the first day which was this Monday. They never said anything about additional days until they found the scars and scheduled her for the psych exam today.
