  1. We got approved today and the approval notice says "We will send your Employment Authorization Document (also known as an EAD card or Form I-766) to you separately. The EAD card will have an I-512 endorsement on it, which indicates that you have been approved for advance parole" Is this what everyone is calling the "combo card"? Also the I-765 still says 5 weeks until case decision even though they said they've made a decision. I'm sure that's just an error on their end that will go away eventually?
  2. Still nothing new on our end. Filed: Feb 16th Delivered: Feb 20th NOA: March 4th. Biometrics: March 18th No updates since EAD and AP just say "taking longer than expected." AOS still says 4 months to go.
  3. I'll just jump on the bandwagon and say yup, nothing new since attending the biometric appointment. Just waiting for letters I guess.
  4. Biometrics went well yesterday. In and out in less than 15 minutes. Friendliest and most efficient government office I have ever been in . I guess now we just wait for some sort of letter in the mail? Also, when I check my case status on the USCIS site, it shows the biometrics step as "complete" for the I-485 and the EAD, but not the AP. Does it just take time to update in the system?
  5. Thank you both, she was so worried that this was going to delay our paperwork or something since the I-485 and the biometrics are now "inconsistent" so to speak. But yeah, dark brown and black are close enough to each other that they're basically interchangeable anyway.
  6. For the biometrics form, my wife checked her hair as being black, but when I filled out the I-485 I checked brown because in certain light it looks more dark brown than black. I figure this is probably not going to be a big deal, but she's worried about it now. Yes, before anyone says it, we probably should have coordinated better when filling both out. There was just a misunderstanding between us. Is it possible to simply cross out that selection on the biometrics form and check the correct color? Or just leave it as is? Is it possible to get another biometrics form? Should she just mention it at her biometrics appointment on Monday? I highly doubt your entire legal status in the U.S depends on your hair color, especially when it's subjective as hers, but I guess we just want some reassurance.
  7. We received our official notices in the mail today. Biometrics appointment set for 3.18.
  8. Mailed: Feb 16th to Phoenix lockbox (since we live in Tennessee). Delivered: Feb 20th. Checked status of each receipt number today on USCIS website: I-485 says biometrics appointment was scheduled on Feb 28th and to look for notice in the mail (not arrived). I-765 says case was received on Fed 21st and to look for receipt notice or acceptance notice (not arrived) I-131 says the same thing as I-765.
  9. Mailed: Feb 16th to Phoenix lockbox (since we live in Tennessee). Delivered: Feb 20th. The money orders we included have not been cashed yet and we have not received any sort of notification via the G-1145 we included. Is there a general sort of timeline when we can expect to hear back? I've been googling and can't seem to find a straight answer. I also saw someone say something about the bar codes on the bottom of the paperwork needing to show in order to not get a rejection. My printer cut ours off, so we're a bit anxious about that. I seem to recall the same thing happening to the I-129f and it was never an issue.
  10. When I sent my I-129f, my printer cut off the barcodes on the bottom and it was never an issue. It did the same for the AOS we went last week. I hope it doesn't cause any issue.
  11. Well, we went again today and somehow got the exact same guy. Only this time we didn't mention being married and suddenly he was able to process a SSN for her just fine. Amazing lol.
  12. Well, if we have to wait to change her name until she's a U.S citizen, it's no big deal. Waited long enough for everything else, what's one more thing right? We'll try to go again tomorrow. Hopefully we get a different person who knows what they're doing. Also going to bring in a memo from their own website that says K1 holders (and I-94 holders) are eligible for a SSN, and if they still want to argue I guess I'll be demanding to speak to a manager or something. I have rights dang it, and they should follow the law they are paid to enforce.
  13. Our tax dollars hard at work.
  14. Exactly what the guy today said. He even tried to say we need to now file for a K3 if we want to get a SSN. 🤡
  15. I think they will use her maiden name since they are getting their data from DHS/USCIS. We'll have to go back later to update her name after we've sent in the AOS which will have her new name. It's not a big deal. Again, assuming I am reading all of this correctly. Guess it's too much to ask for the government to give clear instructions and competent employees. No wonder people come here illegally.
  16. If I'm reading this thread right (and plenty of other people I've seen while googling), the guy we talked to at the SSA office today was just an idiot who doesn't know how to do his job. We CAN get one after marriage, we'll just have to go back and get a new one once her name change goes through with the AOS. Guess I'll have to just go there again and insist on talking to the manager like a Karen.
  17. The I-94 doesn't expire until April 29th of this year. She just got to the U.S 2 weeks ago.
  18. I know this is an old post, but my wife and I went to a SSA office today and the guy flat out told us he cannot give her a SSN since her K1 was "voided" once we got married because "that's what his chart say". Should I have been a Karen and demanded to talk to someone else? He is clearly wrong.
  19. Thank you, that makes sense. Now if only I can get the SSN thing sorted out. We went to our local SSA office today and the guy had no idea what he was talking about. He said because we got married and she's not my fiancée anymore, the K1 is void and I cannot ask for a SSN. So I guess the AOS is the only way to request one now? This is all so confusing.
  20. Speaking of asking for a social security number, it asks that question on both the I-485 and the I-765 (the work permit one). Do we only ask for it on one of those or both?
  21. Hello, my fiancée came to the U.S on a K1 visa. We got legally married on Friday, but it still has her maiden name on the wedding certificate since that is how my state does things. We are not sure what to put on the adjustment of status when filling out her name. As many of you will know, Filipino naming conventions have your maiden last name shift to your middle name where your mother's maiden name used to be. (i.e if your maiden name was Jane Smith Doe and you marry a man named John Brown, you'll become Jane Doe Brown by Filipino rules.) So basically what I am asking is, when we fill out the adjustment of status paperwork (I-485) do we put Jane Smith Doe or Jan Doe Brown? If that makes sense. My fiancée found a source while googling that says she cannot legally change her middle name until she becomes a U.S citizen, so just wondering if any other Filipinos can chime in with their experience. We thought we could change it when she applies for a Social Security Number, but our local office wouldn't let us apply for one in person, so our only option is to check the box on the I-485 to request one, but it does not ask what name you want associated with your social. So we just assume it will use the name on the I-485. Which just brings me back to our original question of which name to use. Thank you in advance, sorry if this post is confusing.
  22. When you say "The foreign fiance's income can NOT be counted on either affidavit" does that mean I should not include my fiancee's current job in the "Beneficiary's Financial Information" section of the I-134? She makes a pretty good income by her country's standards and we wanted to include it to prove she isn't a gold digger, since she is already financially well off.
  23. The only date they ever gave her was for the first day which was this Monday. They never said anything about additional days until they found the scars and scheduled her for the psych exam today.
  24. Well unless they can squeeze her in for tomorrow or the 20th for that 3rd day, looks like we'll have to reschedule the interview that or she can beg her work to let her not have to go on that business trip.
  25. Last day? I thought this exam would just be a one day thing and the only reason she had to go back is for the psych exam. She's out of town next week and her interview is on the 21st, unless they can cram her in tomorrow or the 20th there's no way she can get it all done before her interview.
