That would be an interesting plan.  Maybe the husband could work something out with his manager to temporarily head back overseas to potentially do the DCF.

Definitely worth a try.

Which visa are the Lab proposing to sponsor you for?

Interesting to know.  The problems I see with the visa for the lab, is that all the rest of her family are US Citizens, so her ties are to them.  She's not leaving the twin sons in Europe.  DCF is the way to go if they can swing it, then maybe reschedule the lab.

He is in Texas and this is in Chicago which does not make much sense.

Not sure I see how DCF will work, that bird has flown, no harm asking.

F1, OK I thought this might be some sort of work visa.

If the husband still has valid residency in the country, I don't see any reason why they cannot attempt DCF even if he is physically back in the US setting up a residency.  Like I mentioned earlier, maybe he can work something out with his manager to go back for a month or two.

@DrBiologist, time is of the essence.

Email consulate now about dcf - which one is it?

Wait to get response, should be a week or two.

If they say no, proceed to file i130 (checking off consular processing).

Proceed with lab visa.  Be honest with consulate that you have i130 filed but you have picked consular processing.

Other posters have received nonimmigrant visas.

Worst case scenario, you have only i130 filed and you wait, if they deny the lab visa.

I think the OP reached her limit of posts yesterday.  I expect she will be back on later today.
