5 years of income or just job history?

Hi folks,

I have filed the form i-130 to bring my wife over from the Philippines. I provided my work history for the past five years. Since 2019, I have made 6 figures each year. But for 2018, I drove rideshare all year and my "income" after expenses was like 8,000 USD.  There is just about 3  months if you go back 5 years starting from today where I was working that job self-employed. Will this mess things up for me? Or are they just looking at my current income? I think by the time they actually process the form, that will be outside of the 5 year period anyway.

Thanks,

Drew

I am referring to the Affidavit of Support phase after the i-130 processes.

For the I-864, you must list your federal income tax return figures from the 3 most recent tax years, and your current annual income.  No need to list your income from the years before that.

The above is correct, and unless it's Mumbai, current income and last year's "total income" line from tax return (not likely the same number) are the most important.  One is NOT required to have qualifying income for the past three years.
