If someone were to withdraw their petition to immigrate, even after their interview but before a decision was made on their visa, would there be negative consequences when they reapply? Could it be held against them? Could they be denied in the future based on this?

Hello,

Sorry to comment on your post.  My wife and I recently got married in Cyprus, she lives in Moscow she's a Russian national, I'm just applying for the I-130.  My question is are they processing this Visa's in country?  I read somewhere that they get sent to Poland but then it's hard to get a Visa to go to Poland.  I'm curious of your experience.  Thank you!

To the best of my knowledge only emergency visas are being processed in Moscow.  I think Warsaw is the main location, but there are other options.  You may want to review some of the threads in the regional forum for up-to-date information.

Good Luck!

Hello,

No worries. The U.S. embassy in Russia only deals with certain emergencies and not the processing of immigration visas due to being effectively closed by the Russian government years ago. Immigrant visa cases are sent to Warsaw, Poland but Russian citizens cannot get visas to go there, the EU, or the Schengen Zone. You will likely either need to contact an embassy in another country or they will transfer your case to Almaty, Kazakhstan. We had to have Congressional assistance in transferring our case to Almaty but that was about a year ago.
