K1 Visa Petitioner name is misspelled

Hi everyone,

My fiancée received her passport with the K1 visa stamp today. But, the petitioner's name in the visa stamp is misspelled. Everything else is correct. What should we do, will this cause any problem at the POE?

I have already emailed the Mumbai consulate about the issue. I would really appreciate your help in this matter

Thank you

When does the visa expire?

Can you describe the error in vague terms;  for example if your name John Robert Potter is the misspelling:

  1. Jon Robert Potter
  2. John Roberts Potter
  3. John Robert Poter
  4. Joe Robert Potter
  5. Hohn Robert Potter
  6. John Tobert Potter
  7. John Robert Ootter
  8. John Robet Potter

etc?

The visa expires on September 14, 2023.

The mistake is in the annotation section of the visa stamp. It has my full legal name along with the USICS receipt number.

My actual name: Jigesh

The mistake: Jignesh

Her name and information along with my middle and last name, and the receipt number are correct. The only issue is my first name

This implies your visa was approved quickly after the medical. So unless there is a pressing need to travel now, I would get it corrected, given there is plenty of time to fix it before the medical expires.

Yes, her medical was on March 15th, 2023.

I have emailed the embassy about the issue, and am waiting for their reply since its night time over there. Hopefully the issue gets resolved quickly.
