Almaty does not require them. We called and asked them a couple weeks ago.

Got a reply back from Almaty, both parents are now scheduled for March 28!

A quick review of the interview and medical. My parents said everything went more or less smoothly, they had no issues with medical and everyone was very nice and helpful. They had all their vaccines

Yup. I emailed the Medical Center and they confirmed that Sputkik V is accepted for Russian Citizens and there is no expiration date either.

So, an update on our cases. Previously NVC has set one case to go to Warsaw and kept one in Almaty. I asked Almaty to keep them together and Almaty took the Warsaw case back, so that was good. Then today we got our interview appointments. I don't know what is going on, but they scheduled one parent for March 28 and the other for April 18. I asked Almaty to keep them together for March 28, hopefully they can make it happen. Getting close!

KZ embassy now also has this statement on their website, which explains why we were transferred there in the first place: 

"Additionally, on February 16, 2023, the Department of State designated U.S. Embassy Tashkent and U.S. Consulate General Almaty as processing posts for Russian IR-5 (parent of a U.S. citizen) immigrant visa (IV) applicants.  IR-5 immigrant visa appointments will be scheduled through the National Visa Center.  U.S. Embassy Warsaw remains the processing post for Russian applicants applying for other IV categories."

Good news, we finally got my wife's interview date!

Great news for both of you!  My wife had her interview last Tuesday at the KZ consulate and arrived here last Friday!  Everything went smooth!  You are close to the finish line)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

@Simplytex @Runner19 my congrats guys! Glad to see that all of us are soon going to be done with all that hustle. 

 

@Simplytex You are quite unlucky, you got appointment date one day after the deadline for tax filing(April 17th), so you might be asked about 2022 taxes. Neither me or my joint-sponsor have filed tax returns for 2022, so I'm glad that we're scheduled 2 weeks before the deadline

Yeah I thought about that this week. I've already mostly got my taxes finished, I have a simple situation except that this year for "ease of filing" I'll do it Married filing Separately, which means I gotta print it out and mail it in, probably do all that next week. Not sure how long it takes for tax transcripts to show up, but I'll have a copy of the return and my W2/1099s.

I will be submitting my Taxes as "Married filing Jointly" for 2022 even though my wife didnt arrive until Feb 24th of 2023.   As we were married in 2022, you can attach a declaration to your tax return (as U.S. citizen) that your spouse was a nonresident alien, but they choose to be treated by the IRS as a resident alien.  You will need a Social Security # or a ITIN number from the IRS.  When my wife went through border control, they said she would receive her SS Card and Green Card in 3-4 weeks.  If we dont receive the the SS card by the tax filing deadline, I will file for an extension.  I am not a tax attorney so dont take this advice to the bank, but this is my plan to save money on taxes at this point.  You get an automatic tax deduction of $24,400 for filing Married Filing Jointly.

Would you mind sharing your timeline for how long everything took/processing center?

 

I filed i130 for my mom in Russia in July 2022, it got moved to Vermont Center right away. The case status went to “it’s taking longer than usual..” about a week ago. I am trying to get a better timeline and not sure where else to turn.

Hi! We filed our petition in June 2021, got approved at the end of July 2022. Submitted docs to NVC July 28, got an RFE in early November. DQ December 20-21. Then our cases were transferred back and forth a couple of times, ended up in Almaty. Interview scheduled on February 28 for March 28. I hope that helps!
