Spousal Visa waiting for interview - possible to switch to another embassy on visit visa?

Hi everyone,

I had a question regarding transferring a case to another embassy. Is it only possible if you have a long-term visa for another country (student visa, work visa)?

Is it possible to transfer a case on a visit visa at all? My husband has close family in Sweden (his siblings are Swedish nationals) and we were wondering if it's possible to transfer to that embassy due to the large wait time for interviews for his country ( Pakistan 1.5 years after DQ for IR-1..)

Thanks for the help!

It is possible. Now is it logical or practicable s another matter.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Would the process be contacting NVC to request? What do you think are the major issues that can happen?

Sweden backlog does not seem very long?

I assume he has a Swedish visa

Consulate would need to agree to accept the case and of course they are not likely to be familiar with Pakistan documents

I have seen cases delayed but that depends where you are in the process and may be relative.

Thank you so much, yes he does have a Swedish visit visa. I'll look into it and see how it goes. Maybe the Swedish consulate will deny too.  He is documentary qualified and waiting in line for interview (long wait). Thanks!

One can interview based on where they are a citizen or where they legally reside.  One is not residing, when they are just a visiting tourist.  You can try, but expect to fail.  If he was there studying on a tourist visa, that would work, but you said his visa was for visiting.  You asked about other possible visas but only mentioned a tourist visa.  What does he actually have?

Yes, that's what I was asking because he has a visit Schengen visa for Sweden not a long term visa so I was asking if it's possible to transfer off of that but I see it's not possible. It's only possible to transfer embassies if someone has a student or work visa since those are longer?

Right.  Not possible in your situation.
