My daughters beg me to get them Proactive everytime they see the cart at the local mall we go to. They're only 10 and 11 though and I'm not too keen on giving them things that are meant for adults. They both have wicked bad acne that started last year all over their face and on their backs. I'm bringing them to their annual physical next week so hopefully their doctor will recommend something age appropriate that works. I feel so bad for them 'cause none of the other kids have zits yet.

Doctors have sadi that when acne is on the lower part of the face, it is often caused by hormones, that's why the birth controll pill can be effective. I wonder how topical things like Proactive help? Loreal makes a over the counter treatment similar to proactive that with consistent sue does keep the skin looking good.

Something I have been noticing is that lately (for the past months) I've had my chin full of them little fu**ers, maybe that's why. And I haven't really changed anything in my life, routine, etc. I really don't get this hormone thing, can it be caused by stress? Maybe excess of boredom?

I think our hormones are affected by stress...right?

Your magnesium deficient. Try magnesium citrate in water 3x per day. I use 150mg x 3. It may be other minerals as well. Try Twin-Labs twin caps (mineral). It cured about 7 issues I was having.

I have all of a sudden developed a skin problem... I used to suffer from mild acne when I was a teenager and I am guessing due to all the stress I have been under just lately it has made a reappearance!

My doctor put me on Oxitetracycline (sp) which doesn't seem to be doing anything... I have seen this Pro-Active stuff being advertised, with the likes of Jessica Simpson saying that it is a miracle cure etc

It's a wee bit expensive though... Has anyone else used this? Does it work?

Any other tips? It's driving me nuts!

I use proactive and have used it for about 2 years now. I really love it and have had great results. I agree with another poster...don't get it from the website because then you get locked into this auto ship thing. I just go to the mall and buy what products I want whenever I need them. They were sending me a new shipment every month when really I only needed more product every 2 months or so.

As for body acne...I know proactive has a body wash type thing. I never used it but I know a friend who has and she had great results. It's worth a try IMO.

can you tell me where to buy? you say the mall, is there a particular store? I ordered online and I want to cancel before the 30 days expire, but I want to keep buying the lotion.

My fiance had horrible acne and I got him proactive in January and it has COMPLETELY cleared up his face. It's amazing considering he had tried pretty much everything and nothing even got rid of a small amount of his acne.

I'm sure that pro-active doesn't work for everyone- but considering the dramatic difference it made for Yuibi, I would suggest you try it out.

If the doctor's started you on tetracycline (an antibiotic), it will take a couple days to kill the acne infection and a couple days more for your skin to start to heal.

One of my sisters has pretty horrible acne problems, and none of the ProActives or knockoffs work for her.

Have you changed anything in your diet recently? Maybe stress eating of junk food? In my case, both tortilla chips and Oreos lead to painful breakouts for me.

Every mall around where I live has a Proactive kiosk that sells nothing but that, I'm not sure "kiosk" is the right word in English but it is not a real store it is one of those little places which are in the middle of the hallways.

ETA: I also see it advertised on TV all the time where there is a # you can call and order it.

I like those kiosks because you can buy the products separately. As as said before the face wash is just a waste of money, the only products that work well are the lotion and the mask, that's it. Plus, when you buy it at the mall, you don't have to sign up for automatic delivery, you buy it when you run out.

Nessa, I got mine from eBay. There is a lady who lives in Illinois that sells it quite a lot cheaper than in the stores.
