We've just found that it is recommended that the package sent is duplicated and we haven't done this? Will it matter? I still have bunches of originals but we also sent some original evidence as well. Is there any reason for the duplication? Or just in case everything gets lost or something?!

Help!

VJ recommends to make 2 complete copies of all information in the application. Send the original and 1 for the petitioner and 1 for the beneficiary. If this has not been done it would not hurt to start making up 2 packages asap. You just never know when they will be needed. I have sent a complete package to my SO so that she will have all of the originally submitted data when she goes to interview. She may not need it, at this point I do not know, but I am sure that if she did not have it they would ask for something in it. Like carrying an umbrella... B)

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

Don't say that!!! I am hoping that if they ask for something I have it anyway - all the scans I sent I have the originals of anyway and other than that, originals were sent so they can hardly ask for scans of that can they?! Oh don't tell me they can :P

Dont worry, is just for peace of mind that you need that. The embassy or consulate has your packet I-129F the day of the interview, in deed they gave me back the pictures that we submitted as evidence in that form the day of the interview. Try to read ahead what kind of information you will be required for the packet 3 or 4 so that you have a plan for it. (and if you can try to make now those copies)

Best luck in this journey.

Call me naive but what are packets 3/4 etc? Obviously we have just sent off the first batch of evidence/I-129F/G-325A etc but are we required to mail more things to various places or do I just have to take a bunch of stuff to interview eventually?

Packets 3 and 4 are what you will receive from the consulate in London. Packet 3 forms are filled out and sent back to the consulate as an indicator that you are 'ready' for an interview. It also includes instructions on how to book your medical exam.

Packet 4 contains your interview date and instructions.

congratulations on your desition ,

You made the first step for I 129f , from now on I would copy everything that you have to print,

and collect resives phone bills boarding passes all efidance of ongoing relationship ,

your petition is at the uscis center , from there you get a notice 1 ( NOA 1 ) once they cash your check , on that notice you have your case number ,

now you can open a e mail account on uscis homepage where you can check status with your case number ,

second step , if they dont require more effidance the case gets aproved you resive NOA 2

( very IMPORTANT to keep this document save , you need it in the future after your married to file for green card )

then the case goes to NVC ( national visa center ) they send a note saying they forward the petition to your fiances consulte , there is a new case number on it wich is your fiances number for her home countrys consulate ( her own case number for interview )

, once your fiances consulate resives the file they send your fiance the 3rd package wich inclueds a checklist and form she needs to file out (for exampll, I 134 , DS 230, DS 156, a list with doctors for the medical exam and few other forms)

she has to file them out and send checklist , DS 156 and DS 230 back to the embassy asap,

if everything is in order , they send package 4 ( wich includes the interview date )

hope this info helps and good luck Lona

I didn't really use my copies, but they were helpfull when filing for AOS since I already had all my info for the G-325A and also all the info needed for the affidavit of support. It sure helped not having to sit down reading my documetns and copying numbers, etc.

Also in case something gets lost (and a lot of times they do) you have it ready for that dreaded RFE.

But like us, so many couples ended up just fine without the copies.

We've just found that it is recommended that the package sent is duplicated and we haven't done this? Will it matter? I still have bunches of originals but we also sent some original evidence as well. Is there any reason for the duplication? Or just in case everything gets lost or something?!

Help!

We didmake 2 copies of everything. If they loose something, they request for a replacement, in order to get your case approved.

We did the same thing with filing AOS.

At my I-129f interview they asked for affadavit of support, paystubs ( originals, we sent copies)and updated ones received later. Copy of the birth certificate, so you can get the original back for your AOS.

We made 3 seperate files, 1 with originals and 2 copied ones.

My fiance kept one copy, I did bring one home for the interview.
