Interesting. There's already a price difference between Moscow and Poland — $275 vs. $80. But it's better to get the exam here where we are than to go all the way to Poland and take the risk of scheduling at the last minute.

I was under the impression that fiancées (or wives) (or any gender whatsoever, it's 2022+ after all) could schedule an interview even prior to any approvals, just in case, as they hoped to utilize 3 free reschedules for the interview.

 

Has that changed? At least for Warsaw?

Scheduling interviews is only for K visas. Spousal or family visa's in the IR/CR category are automatically scheduled by NVC - there is not some way for people to sign up ahead of time or to check when availability is.

Any recent IL for interview at Warsaw Embassy? They supposedly have a big backlog, at least that's what I've heard two months ago when I talked with consular officers during the event at Hard Rock Cafe, but I'm wondering how it's actually going on right now, how many months after being DQ to having an interview for CR1/IR1 visa?

Not sure right now. I've seen a couple spousal visas get scheduled in 2 months or less recently. Hopefully my wife gets DQ in ~2 weeks, then it will be just waiting on the interview date...

Yeah, I should get decision from NVC in about 4 weeks, so probably you'll get the IL earlier and I'll know when to expect mine  For some time I thought that Warsaw embassy schedules interviews faster for Polish citizens, as it is the case at Frankfurt, where Ukrainians come before Germans. 2 months wouldn't be that bad actually, when I've talked to the consular officers from Warsaw 2 months ago, they said the current wait time is 6-8 months. When you say 2 months you mean that you've seen some people going from DQ to the interview in that time?

Just for reference, some data points that I've slowly been gathering:

Zoothie: DQ Feb 1, 2022, interview mid-Oct

Someone Zoothie knows: DQ Jan 2022, interview early Oct

CM&KV: DQ Sept 20 2022, interview Dec 19th (IR2 daughter, scheduled in the same manner as spouse)

SmoothOperaytor: DQ Late June, interview early December

Master5: DQ Late October, interview late December

 

There might be one or two missing but definitely its trending downwards - my thinking is that they had allocated a lot of space this summer/early autumn for Diversity Visa lottery, because those applications actually expire at the end of Sept if I recall correctly.

Yeah, that could be it, actually. Fingers crossed they'll return to that 1-1.5 month backlog they used to have some time ago. Warsaw embassy used to be very quick in terms of scheduling, it all got complicated when they started taking people from other embassies, but I guess that Ukrainians are taken by Frankfurt, so the embassy is left with people from Poland, Belarus and Russia.

Just to be technical Poland handled Belarus for a while before, plus Russians located in Kaliningrad. But I totally get your point. I think there is also a wierd situation where, there will have been a backlog of cases from pre-covid or early covid, but then a definite lull in cases for 'new' spouses (folks married less than 2 yrs) since no one was really travelling and meeting up. So I think, all factors considered, it should be clearing up and just on the couple data points there, it seems to be better. Also, Russians are now faced with the Schengen visa issues, which I think will cause a greater number to try to transfer their cases elsewhere, rather than deal with the headache of going to Warsaw (I'm kinda on that boat, will see in the next month or so.)

You're right, totally forgot that embassy in Minsk was transferring cases to Warsaw for a while now, I didn't know about Kaliningrad, but I guess it seems to be logical, looking by the distance. I'm wondering what are the most prioritized categories for visa scheduling. You say that IR2 falls under the same category as IR1, but I don't know about CR1. When I check visa issuance reports, I see that there are less CR1 visas issued, compared to IR1, but that also could be due to lower number of such cases. Until 26th of June next year, we are falling under CR1 category, so if we'll get the interview close to that date, then we'll probably wait a little longer to not have to deal with Remove of Conditions stuff and just wait for naturalization

So any of the IR or CR visas are handled the same by USCIS and the embassy (as far as application, interview requirements, etc.) That's because these are the priority, family-based greencards that don't have any issuing limits (unlike other 'family preference' greencards which you might have to wait for) https://www.immi-usa.com/family-based-green-card/processing-time

 

The only difference in CR vs IR type visa is as you stated, having a 2 year 'conditional' greencard issued upon arrival, instead of the typical 10 yr validity. The 1/2/5 number following is just for the category of person - spouse, parent, child, adoption, but this again shouldn't impact the timing of interview or visa availability.

WOW. Warsaw clearly cleared their backlog. We waited for 8 months for our interview and I see the wait is back to 2 mos. Enjoy!
