So... I liked the country, and the people were friendly, but the Limburg province wasn't a very good place for a visitor who doesn't understand the language, and the immediate family of my husband left me feeling a little uncomfortable.

I would think southern part of the Netherlands was pretty much not very English speaking friendly - I used to live in Eindhoven. 180 degrees difference from Amsterdam :D

Speaking for my husband, he only spent around 1 mo in Indonesia. He likes it (as a visitor) but he would not NEVER drive there....

I loved Jamaica...somewhat. I made 16 (I think) trips so far. Spent almost all of it at his house without proper running water, electric, and lots of amenities I was used to.

While I admired the peacefulness and beauty at times, I saw the ugliness of poverty, undereducation, violence, etc. at other times.

I would visit there in a heartbeat. Wouldn't choose to live there at this point.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

However, even when we were lost in Amsterdam, we were able to find friendly people willing to help us figure out where we were going.

I liked Holland, but I've only been to Utrecht. It sucks that you had such a miserable connection to your hubby's country :(

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Germany and would move there in an instant if it weren't for my kids. My bff is German, and my mother's family came from Germany, so I had a connection to the country before I met my fiance. I've spent a total of about 6 weeks there (both before him and with him) and I'll be back in December for Christmas. I think it's an amazing place, the people are wonderful, his family is wonderful, etc. I think that we will eventually move back there. He's lived in the US before and of course will do so again, but since there are opportunities for both of us there, it would be good to return.

I do love my country, especially where I live, but I do think there are many aspects of German life that are better run than the American way (i.e. healthcare, education, environmental protection).

Also lived in Eindhoven. I learned more Russian in two months in Lipetsk than I learned Dutch in two years in Eindhoven. Menus might not be in English everywhere, but it is easy enough to get along. I can probably count on one hand the number of people I met that didn't speak English.

I miss stumbling around drunk on Stratumseind. I miss PSV. I even miss the little Eindhoven airport.

I like Russia. It is different though. Without at least a basic grasp of the language, it is not possible to understand anything. In Western Europe, even with language differences, it isn't so hard to understand people. Culturally, Europeans are not so different from each other. Russians are very different. Everything is very different there.

From there (we are from neighbouring states, with different languages--as India's state boundaries were mostly drawn in 1950's along rough linguistic lines) originally.

I emigrated at age 8 (with parents) to Calgary, Canada while Pras was cent-percent India-born-and-raised. I was in Ikea - and I had to wait for another customer service because who speak English. And my Dutch was not good enough to carry conversation regarding delivery schedule

I am not fond of small airports and small airplane either

One thing I like about the Eindhoven is the winter is mild compared to midwest

I spent a combined total of about 43 weeks in Jamaica (almost 11 months). I became very much apart of life down there - learned to speak the language, cook, clean and function how they do. I never stayed in a resort and lived in the mountains far from even the big cities. I am extremely grateful that I did that because I believe it makes my husband and I understand each other to a better degree.

In our house we listen to JA music, cook JA food, watch JA programs/movies when we can get ahold of them. I stayed with his family some of the times and it was really cool to be able to interact and do things "their" way. At the end of it all I wasn't considered that "American white girl" anymore...I was a full fledged Jamaican :P I also stayed with other JA families before my husband and I were seriously dating. That was great because I got to see some of the differences that were family in nature and not necessarily the culture.

I would live there in a heartbeat if we could afford it and we could find employment to support ourselves.

My husband spent a lot of time in Germany, probably around 9 months all combined.

He likes it, but he would miss a lot of things he does here and would not be able to do in Germany (especially goose hunting). Lots of his hobbies are very expensive in Germany!

However, he likes the Germans more than he likes the Americans!

Love Brazil, everything about Brazil. Except taking cold showers at her house there, but I got used to that too. Everyone says that I blend in good. Val says I even sound Brasilian when I speak Portuguese now. Although when she speaks to fast, I cannot understand very well.

Would love to live there when my daughters are out of school and on their own, and hopefully can find a job there.

We also met in a third country, Italy, but I was able to spend about 3 weeks in Morocco. I don't think that's nearly enough time to really get to know a country. So I hope we can spend more time there in the future.

I would love to move to Italy permanently, but my husband prefers Spain (I spent about a month or so with him so again, I need more time to decide).

My wife lived in Alberta and Ontario so I got to see both provinces as well as Quebec for her interiview. I throughly enjoy Canada, the people, etc. I think I relate well but maybe not. I never thought of it as America Jr and there definately differences but none to complain about.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
