I tried to add my timeline but I couldn't edit the spreadsheet

I meant on your profile on VJ - far more useful than the spreadsheet as then it helps all EB applicants and adds to the body of knowledge on the forum. It also means we have answers to the questions like which visa category, what your PD is, etc, without having to find it on the spreadsheet.

If you're EB2-NIW then a job offer isn't going to be a valid reason for an expedite, as you don't need a job offer for that visa. As said above and on the link I gave you, usually only emergency medical situations qualify.

@Emmajapan Expedite in Montreal are really rare. They are usually only for medical reasons. It's stated on the government website that a job offer is not ok for expedite.

@Mano17 Hi Mano! You are right that you need new Police Clearance if it's going to hit 2 years for the interview. For each family member. It says so when you register and on the links in the letter.
For the other countries I don't know, but there is a lenghty paragraph on that specific subject on the governement website link in the letter.

All the best!

@Canadian24 Thanks for clarifying and link, will contact RCMP first.

@Anelisse Hi Anelisse! I’ve done quite a bit of research, since we thought my husband might only be able to fully join me between 6 months and a year later. It’s definitely a grey area, but from what I’ve found, they generally understand that the first year can take time to fully relocate, sell your house, etc. Popping by occasionally while you’re in the process of moving seems fine in that first year. It’s not the same as someone who is already established and leaves for over a year and never returns to the U.S. (that’s when you’d need the I-131 re-entry permit).

From what I’ve gathered, you just need to activate your green card within the 6 months, then make sure you’re spending some time in the U.S., even short visits, and building ties here (like opening a bank account, getting a driver’s license, etc.). The “6 months to 1 year” concern usually applies if you don’t come at all. Since we’re coming from Canada, it’s relatively easy to at least visit and build ties even if you didn't totally move yet.

Feel free to DM me if you’d like to chat more about it!

Thank you so much! I will DM you 😊

Eb2-NIW, PD March 23, 2023, my PD is current got DQ in July 2025. I tried to add my timeline but I couldn't edit the spreadsheet. I spoke with an ex Consular officer, she said I can expedite it, but I just want to know if someone else here has successfully expedited his case. On the spread sheet one person expedited his interview.

Thank you

@Emmajapan Just added you to the spreadsheet thanks!

Good morning all,

How often does someone need to log in to his NVC portal in other to keep the case active

Also how often does someone need to contact NVC via public inquiry inorder to keep the case active( from NVC email, it says maximum of 1 year but I want to know the recommended one here for this group).

Thank you.

I don't think you need to contact NVC periodically to keep the case active.

Hello friends,

Have some questions.  Hope someone can help me.

We acquired Canadian citizenship after filing our DS-260 and the DQ date.    Registered for Consular interview using the old passport details as it was filled in the DS-260(Attorney confirmed that we can mention that we have a different citizenship currently, at the time of interview).  Now trying to register for Medical appointment and it asks Passport details.   Should we fill in our Canadian passport details or does it have to be matching DS-260?

Thank you
