Hello. How vital is N-600 for a child that became a citizen because of her mother? I am naturalized, but my daughter (15) needs proof that she is a citizen. I just applied for her passport with no hassle, so I was wondering if filing for N-600 is worth it or passport is enough to show that she is a US citizen now. And $1100 for the filing fee is a significant amount for me. Thank you.

Get her passport card too.

I’ve seen  certificate of citizenship required for:

* REAL ID at the dmv when it cannot verify authorized presence using a passport

* petitioning an alien for an immigration benefit

* registering to vote online

* security clearance

* some federal and military roles

* obtaining a US passport for a child not born in the USA

If you don’t want to file N-600 at least preserve the evidence you used to get the passport.

The N-600:filing fee is waived for active or veteran military family members, but you can also,look at I-912 Fee Waiver guidelines as far your income,  and ask for a fee waiver since they do grant such

Thank you. Do colleges/Universities ask for it?

Other than the colleges at Annapolis, Colorado Springs, or West Point, I doubt it.

Want to apply for minor child (under 14) N600 online. Do I open a new USCIS account for child or do I apply through my own USCIS account?
Terms of service of USCIS account sign up says minors under 14 should not open account.
Tried to fill the form N600 on my account and gave an error when I got to the birth date part of the applicant. Saying that the birthdate associated with this account is different ( since its my birthdate). Please advise how to file N600 online for minor under 14. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply , in my case my son is 13 years; so some people tell me that I have to file by paper not online as instructions says that online account can be created for 14 years old and above under the UCSIS page.
I’m afraid that the paper filing will take longer time ?!

Any recommendations what to do !

thanks

This is old I know but USCIS sent my 10 year old a notice on how to set up an online account which we did. Not sure why yours says 14 and above. We filed her N600 online with no issues under her account.

My wife came to the US on an F1 visa about 10 years ago.
