Just checking. Am I able to cross, activate my visa and then travel back to Canada a few times to pack up and move? I don’t intend to import my car but will use it for a couple months to travel while I get settled.

IIRC if you activate your visa when crossing by land in a car you own, the border agents will make you import it. Something to bear it mind.

Apart from that, nothing precludes you from multiple entries in either countries to progressively move your stuff.

Huh. Thanks very much. My car isn’t eligible for import so I need to sell it. Okay, will figure a new plan.

Yes you can go back and forth to collect your things.

Now to the importing or not importing it in your case you have two issues.

1. as long as you do not get a border official who says you must import it. Most will let you go through and return the car to Canada to sell.

2. Your insurance company will be in Canada and you will no longer be a resident of Canada so they may not cover your car any longer.
