Hello! I am new here with a quick question.

I submitted my fiancés  K1 visa petition 10.5 months ago, impatiently waiting for an RFE.

I've been hearing some cases are approved without an additional RFE. However, I do need to make a couple updates to my I-129F petition and thought I could do so when I submit my RFE.

Anyone had any experience with this and know what I could expect? Thanks in advance!

I need to update his name, address and marital status unfortunately. There was a bit of a language barrier earlier on in our relationship. In his culture they have many surnames and he goes by his middle name, not his first name so I have this backwards on the petition. I now have a photocopy of his passport ready to send as proof. He also didn't make me aware that he was previously married and divorced at the time of filing. I think he thought it would affect out relationship. He has the official divorce certificate issued in 2012 and I have a photocopy to send as well. He also moved last year, lives in the same city and country but has a new address. I am just praying for an RFE at this point so I can make these corrections. 🤞🙏🏻

Rewrite a corrected I-129F form , add passport , divorce and a Letter making the I Used to Be Blonde Defense,..but call it “ Supplemental Filing and Request for Correction/ Updates to case xyz / Typo Errors “

What country is he in? This for more input from others at how to prepare for when he gets there…there will be questions.

I have the select pages of the petition updated and printed, as well as the passport and divorce form, but do you think I should complete an entirely new I-129F?

I have no problem typing up a letter letting them know the reasons for the corrections. Blonde moments all around.

Am I able to send this directly to the California center or do I have to wait for the RFE first?

He is in Ecuador. Thank you so much for your time and info. 🙏🏻

Make sure all correction done now, ok to do partial pages . Don’t go beyond typo errors in letter, cause it looks like he was trying to pull wool over your eyes. But be sure he is not wolf in sheep’ wool, lol!

Send now w copy of NOA 1 to address on notice.

Look to Equador consulate reviews ( on VJ ) for updates on how interview goes.

Gotcha! I will do this, I have everything ready I have just been waiting for someone to contact me, then I learned some petitions are approved without the need of RFE and that worried me. And he is good, he never lied about anything, I guess I should have asked before filing and not just assume anything!

Should I put “ Supplemental Filing and Request for Correction/ Updates to case xyz / Typo Errors “ on the envelope I send to the California Center?

Thanks again for your help. It means more than you know. 🙏🏻

Update:

I mailed the necessary corrections on the petition & supporting documents to USCIS California Service Center yesterday. Fingers crossed they can add this to our file and make the corrections while processing. Maybe I won't even receive an RFE. It's in God's hands now!

Why do you expect an RFE?

it’s not a way of “updating” a petition.  It’s because the petition lacked initial evidence.

Not sure where you got your info from, but the vast majority of I-129fs are approved without an RFE.

UPDATE:

I was really excited when I saw I had mail coming from USCIS this week, but sadly they just returned all the documents I had sent them to update my fiancés petition. Each page now has a stamp and the initials of an agent, also included was a generic letter telling me to call them (haha) or to set up and e-request. Sadly, it seems like the only typos they are concerned with are ones they made. I can't be the only person who has made mistakes on their application. I really wish things were able to be accessed and updated online, I'm just beyond frustrated. 😞 Praying to God!

You will succeed in getting it done..so keep at it. Do the e request .
