Little evidence of having met

I met my fiance while trekking thru Europe in Dec 2005. My family knows her family so I stayed with them for about a week in the Netherlands. We hit it off, and three months of near daily phone calls later, we decided to get married at the end of the year. But I've thrown pretty much everything away -- boarding passes and train tickets. I'm trying to scrounge up what I have -- and it's this:

-- credit card statement showing a train ticket purchase in the Netherlands.

-- a digital photo.

And that's it. My passport didn't get stamped. I didn't stay in hotels. I used mainly cash for the smaller purchases. I can't travel out there until after summer because of my job, and likewise for her.

What do you guys think?

i, personally, would be worried. I'd want more. I would think they'd be skeptical that there is NO record of anything...not even your passport stamped...they looked at my passport to see i'd been to Oz.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I guess if that's all you have, that's all you have. Personally, I would go visit her again (or have her come here), save the boarding passes and passport stamps, and then file. One photo and one train ticket (which proves what, I dunno) may well cause you - at best - a delay or worse, a denial.

I agree with that. If it's possible for you financially, get a vacation and meet again with your fiance :D and this time get more evidence of you meeting.

I'll concur with everyone else here and suggest you put a few more things together. Have you tried contacting her family and asking them if they have any photos or any other evidence that you were with her?

The two pieces of evidence you have don't put you together in the same place at the same time in the last two years. The picture only proves that you've met, not that you've met in the last two years. And the credit card statement only proves that you were in the Netherlands, not that you met while you were there.

Good luck! :)

Better than that.. you have a golden opportunity... why don't you get married in the Netherlands and file an I-130 at the Consulate in Amsterdam. This will result in her getting a CR-1 visa which will result in the issuance of a GC when she enters the US on it. Amsterdam allows non-resident US Citizens the opportunity to file directly in Amsterdam.

If this meet your needs, this is a potentially much quicker way to get her to the US and the end result will be a much better visa.

Phone calls don't prove that they've met in person in the last two years.

Exactly what I was going to say. I would definitely say that you need to either have her visit here or you go back over there, get passport stamps and save boarding passes and whatever other info that proves you were in the Netherlands or her here (such as hotel receipts).

Yes, that's an even better idea. :)

I was thinking the evidence was a bit scant also. I was hoping they stamped my passport, but they didn't. I flew in from Spain -- it wasn't international. But what exactly proves you met your fiance? Do I need boarding cards and stamps, or have people gotten K-1's without them? What about sworn statements from people in Amsterdam?

As for going again -- I spent six weeks abroad last year. It's going to be a little difficult getting time off until after summer.

And I had no idea of filing a I-130 at the Consulate in Amsterdam. I'll look into it. Can somebody tell me a bit more of the chance of a visa getting granted this way? What do they look for when a nonresident files? Thanks.
