Dear fellow Aussies, we're preparing my wife's NVC docs. Since she lives in Australia so we went ahead and applied for an AFP police certificate.

We applied online and followed instructions in https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/australia.html

The certificate is in hand now, and it reads:

    Immigration/Citizenship - Australia

    Name Check Only

This is to certify that there are no disclosable court outcomes recorded ......

Would like to verify that this content is expected and we indeed obtained the correct certificate? Thanks!

Needs to be #33 reason for application. Some have reported push back when they get name only .. even though NVC instructions state this is acceptable .. and have had to redo with fingerprints

Yes, just make sure you follow these strictly: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/australia.html

"Police Certificates"

If applying online, after the Application Portal link is selected, you should progress through to the application form, entering all required data and scanning your documents.

On the next page, under section 2.3 ‘Purpose of Check’, under ‘Purpose Type’, select ‘Commonwealth Employment /Purpose’.

In same section under Purpose of Check, select Code ‘33’ – Immigration/Citizenship – for supply to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

DO NOT SELECT Code ‘35’.

Yes, this wording is correct, which means no criminal history.

What was the reason that your husband's got rejected?

This is what NVC said when they rejected it "Please replace this with an acceptable police certificate with NAME AND FINGER PRINT CHECK or COMPLETE DISCLOSURE from Australian Federal Police. Please use our Document Finder at https://nvc.state.gov/find for acceptable documents guidelines."

AFP said the certificate I have, submitted, and was rejected is the only one they give out following the instructions listed at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/australia.html

The form I have is the COMPLETE DISCLOSURE form. It just no longer states that at the top of the certification. It also says on the travel.state website that you don't have to have fingerprints - now the NVC is saying that it's needed, even though I have the correct certificate.

I haven't submitted forms to NVC yet, we are still waiting for NOA2. But, I emailed AFP asking them to confirm the the police check I got matches the instructions at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/australia.html and they replied saying "I had a look at the application provided and the information you have sent through. You have selected the correct purpose code per the instructions, code 33 immigration/citizenship for supply to the department of home affairs." Could you try getting an email like that and forwarding to NVC?

Sorry to hear that experience. And AFP is basically saying they did everything correctly, what's your next step then?

Resubmit the same certificate with the AFP emails is my best plan now

I got dq today.

I submitted the code 33 police check. Front and back scanned.

I honestly think some people just get unlucky with the person who looks at it.

Did you submit the digital one or the hard copy ,

I submitted digital one directly to Nvc which was sent by AFP but I got rejected on 21 of sept ,,

I got rejected twice ,,

I follow the same instructions given by nvc state govt ,
