Can my fiancé and I get married in another country and apply for the marriage visa? Someone had told me they HAVE to marry in Morocco as per Moroccan law but I’m not sure if that’s true or not. He isn’t living in Morocco right now but he’s not a permanent resident where he is. I’m not sure if that matter either. Thanks

Marry in any country

Look at that country's conditions for 2 foreigner's to marry

He will have to interview in Morocco as he is not a permanent resident where he lives now

If he is  in  the other country for over 6 months he will need a criminal report from there before he leaves

plus the 2 needed for Morocco itself

criminal reports are needed for the NVC stage (2nd stage ) of the CR1 spouse process

What country is he in?

I ask what country as this is so important for the marriage and for the future application

say,  its France, for example,

Two foreigners can get married in France just as two French nationals can get married there. ... However, in order to have the legally binding civil ceremony in France, the couple must have resided there for 30 days.

And i do know how many Moroccans get to other countries and do not have permanent residency /  so if he is in that country without a work permit or permanent residency ,or got there by illegal means,   he will have issues trying to get the needed criminal report from this other country

He’s leaving South Korea to go to Columbia. So we both have to be in Columbia for 30 days to get married there?

he needs criminal report from there if he has for the CR1 visa (later in this process)but get it before leaving as its hard to get after leaving the country

it is complicated for a US citizen to marry in Columbia even when marrying a Columbian

2 foreigners

Every civil marriage performed in Colombian territory is a contract and must be performed by a notary. ... If there are two foreigners not domiciled in Colombia they must get married in the respective consular authorities of their country of origin

and the US consulate does not do marriages

so check with the Morocco consulate in Columbia by calling them

why not just meet in a friendly Carabinean country to marry?

or back in Moroc?

this seems to be the hard way

and have u met in person before this?   if not,  u need to not marry on the 1st visit

We don’t really know what we are doing. We have been dating on and off for 8 years and just know it’s a difficult process and we need a lot of help. The only reason we were planning to marry there is because that’s where the next time we will see each other will be. But I don’t mind waiting to do it elsewhere. Would Belize be ok? I really appreciate you taking the time to help us because I have been struggling to find the answers myself. I hired a lawyer a few years ago but we got frustrated with all the requirements and gave up unfortunately.  This time we are determined to finally do it so we can be together at last.  🥰🥰🥰🥰

yes,  Belize is good /probably a lot easier than trying to marry in Columbia

when u go take a blank copy of the I 130 with u so he can help u fill it out

come back with your marriage certificate (get more than 1 original if its allowed) and put the info from the i 130 into the online site to apply / there is a spot that says write spouse's name in native language ,  go to google translate and get in in arabic and copy and paste it

when sending photos,  i hope there are some of u with his family especially the mother to show her approval

its really not a complicated DIY process / just look at the poverty guidelines for 2022 to make sure u make 125% of needed income, and follow the steps / no lawyer is needed

keep a copy of everything u send now and in the future to immigration

best evidence is proof of time together (copies of boarding passes and/ or hotel receipts)

the marriage certificate

family approval for Moroccans to marry

Vj members will help along the way and no question is too silly

incha yekbel

means God answer your prayers
