Hey everyone!

I’m in the beginning stages of finding a traineeship and then apply for a J1. I’m not sure where to start from and how to secure a PAID traineeship with US host organization. Any tips?

Also was wondering , what sponsor has allows a J1 waiver? As I’ll ultimately apply for that as well and I would like a sponsor who is less strict with this, if that makes sense.

Oh, just for context. I’m a young professional in the UK

You can find all organizations in U.S. that sponsor J visa here: https://j1visa.state.gov/participants/how-to-apply/sponsor-search/?program=Professor and Research Scholar&state=any. Just choose your program (intern, short-term scholar etc.) and see if the organization you are interested in pops up. Good luck!

Hey, thank you!

I already saw the website but majority of them do not offer placement services for something as specific as traineeship. Thank you either way :)

The ski resorts I know employ J1's, I also know a Hotel that before Covid had many J1's for the season.

It seems pretty clear from these questions that you are looking at a J-1 as a means to enter and then stay in the US.  That is not the purpose of a J-1 visa -- they are "exchange visitor visas", meaning you come to work or study for a period of time in the US and then go home to share your experience.  You have to overcome the assumption of pending immigration to qualify for any a J-1.

Because the J-1 is a non-immigrant visa, even if a particular J-1 program or sponsor does not require the 2-year home residency requirement it is unlikely that you will find a paid traineeship sponsor since there is no benefit to a sponsor to pay to train you when you then have to leave the US at the end of your training.

Hi,

A lot of people on this forum submitted a No Objection Statement to receive a waiver, that’s what I was actually enquiring about.

And some sponsors do offer paid internship/training through different hosts but I’m just searching for a traineeship in a more specific field.

I have met quite a few people on a J1 all of whom were paid

J1 covers a wide range, personally not met anybody subject to a HRR

You should either tells us the field or find in google. It's hard to provide information without knowing what you are looking for.

If it's too specific, you should look into studying that at a university/institute and then getting work experience.

Non-profit/international organisation field.
