I know the topic comes up a lot and I have some info to add. I had been using Remitly and was very happy. I switched to WU because there was also no fee and their exchange rate was consistently about 1 peso more to the USD than Remitly. That may not seem like much but I was supporting my wife and kids and it makes a difference with the amounts I was sending and adds up. Well WU started charging a fee of $1.99 per transaction as of this month. So I go check Remitly and still now fee and also the exchange rate was exactly the same as WU. I guess I am moving back to Remitly.

Oh yeah.. I just checked my WU account and tried a transaction after seeing your post and I can see the 1.99 fee. I do like WU (because I haven't tried a lot of other services) though so I might start looking for promo codes for WU now.

I found WELCOMEBACK code... gives 50% off of fee as a start.

Aloha!

You remember that I just went through a big ordeal because of a simple misunderstanding with my bank, however, WU, in my opinion was not transparent with the problem and were trying to get me in the store (and pay a MUCH higher fee). Remitly was open and honest and eventually led me back to my bank where the problem was solved. Remitly wins big time over WU for me.

Remitly's customer service has always been far superior. It used to be a better option financially to use WU but they really started to change this month with no announcement of a new few as well as a much lower exchange rate.
