That is really annoying and beyond frustrating. It’s also so upsetting that Potomac is soooooooo slow! It’s not acceptable. And of course all we have to do it wait. Im surprised you were able to reach an agent and they gave you that much info! Lets try to be as positive as possible. I dont remember where i read or saw but supposedly Potomac is now processing july 20ish 2021 cases..

True. I didnt even know they can give you that much information about waiting for background checks, i always thought they could just tell you the processing center and that’s pretty much it. So the advice is to just wait until the other country gives the background check? So its still just the waiting game?

I don't know how reliable this is, but on his website Jim Hacking writes:

"So when they’re telling you about a background or security check, that’s just their way of saying we’re delaying your case. You have to learn how to translate that language. If they’re saying background check or security check, they’re just slow walking your case and taking their own sweet time."

and

"As I said many times, calling the 1-800 number is usually a waste of time. And if they’re telling you about a background check, that means there’s something about your case that they’re worried about or want to slow-walk your case."

Also I submitted an expedite request on 9/27/2021 and it has been month and it's not even assigned to an officer yet. When I asked the agent today he said lately expedite requests are useless specially for I130. it's ridiculous

Currently dealing with the same thing with the expedite. I sent an ombudsman inquiry today. They basically push USCIS to meet their promised service dates (in this case, 7 business days for an expedite).

Does anyone have experience with threatening USCIS with a lawsuit? I have been waiting over a month on my K3 visa outside normal processing time inquiry and I've just been recommended a good lawyer. What would it cost and how fast can it be wrapped up? Seeing as I'm in this for almost 14 months now, it may not even be worth it.

You need to send it to the same service center your I-130 is at. At least, that's what I did. But I am also stuck waiting on the K3 now 8 months with no updates. I don't know that it will help much. Best of luck, I hope that it works for you.
