Inquiring for my sister in-law who is in Philippines, trying to get her F1 visa to U.S.

She's 23 years old. Cost of the entire program is $14,700 (University). Her I-20 shows $20,000 from the sponsor (her mother). What do you think the minimum annual income of her mother should be, in order for her to pass the financial part of the interview? Is $30K-$40k enough? Or will she need more? Thank you.

At least quote it properly. Anyway, if you don't like the answers here, you always have the choice to pay hundreds of dollars to lawyers just to have them say "yes she will need much more than 30-40K income."

Not sure what program she is attending that is only $14,700 for an international student and not my business.

Schools usually require payment up front, a few do payment plans. She should be able to show she has the entire funds to pay for school, books, housing, and food for the entire program. I will assume she will live with you guys so she would need to show, IMO, at least $20,000 up front.

Thank you. Its an MBA program in California, total cost for entire program is $14,700. After doing more research i figure $20,000 and an Income of at least 50k is what is needed.

Well I've done some research and determined that 50k income would be the best for this situations. Coming from Philippines 50k a year is considered rich in the top 20% of earning families. If someone reports earning 80k per year in philippines, there would be red flags.
