Hello!


I have seen many old posts about this but nothing recent (post COVID days) so am worried laws have changed...

 

My husband will enter the US and I understand the permanent resident card takes a couple of months to arrive... Can he travel outside of the US while he has not received the card?

I agree, the endorsed immigrant visa serves as a temporary GC for up to a year.  See page 40 in the CBP carrier guide.

As others have said, your husband's IV with entry stamp serves as his temporary GC.  But note that some airline staff are not familiar with that.  Make sure your husband brings a copy of the page referenced above by @Dashinka when he checks in for his return flight to the US.
