N400: Moving to Different State

Hi,

 

So i was living in my parents home when i applied for N400. Now i am moving to different state. But i am expecting my interview to be in next two or three months. Should i change my address to new state or give interview in the same state where i applied. Can that be a problem that i am living in one state and just came back for interview.

They earlier you update your address, the better.

Your case will be sent to an office that has jurisdiction over your home address.

I don't see a problem.

 

FYI On some of the USCIS documentation (if I remember clearly), you are supposed to update your address when you move.

I believe that you have to show that you have lived for at least 3 months in the state or USCIS district where you claim residence. (https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/guides/G-1151.pdf )

Since you filed already I am not sure it's a wise idea to change the address when you are so close to the end.

This is incorrect. You have to reside continuously for 3 months at the same residence prior to filing.

 

After filing you can move as you please.

 

OP - be aware that your interview timeline may be pushed out if your new office takes longer to process N400.
